My phone number is completetly new (2 months) and this linda bitchy voice has called several times, claiming she has an important message and press 9. I sensed it was a scam, so can someone tell us how to stop these people from calling us. I also wonder how they got my number....

Received one call today - no one left a message and we haven't had calls prior to this one that occurred at 1410 on 01/10/08. Guess if they get an answer machine they don't leave a message.

These people are a collection agency. If no one answers they'll keep on trying until you answer. Even if you've registered with the do not call list they can leagaly call your phone. Call them back and ring up they're phone bill if they are harrasing you. We all get behind one time or another but that doesn't give them the right to call you and use up your cell phone mins either.

call them back every chance you get (its toll free) and mess with them, complain about subscriptions, cable bills etc. They are pests and deserve to be hassled.

Looks like a collection agency.  Not sure what they're trying to collect from me thought....

Continues to call - it's a recording and leaves a message if I don't answer.  I have to pay for these minutes and this is fraud.  These poeple shoul dbe locked up.  The US Govt must put an end to this.

Always calls at weird hours. They call and say if this is ** and **, press 1. If not press 2. So I pressed 2 and the lady is asking me for my social security number. Ummm, hell nooo. But, if I don't pick up, they don't leave a message.

Another number calls when I don't answer the (800) number -- (512-347-8016) They do no talk either. HOWEVER, they did talk once and say it was a scholarship fund. They knew my name and school. (Graduating this year!) I don't know how or why they have my number. I'm getting highly annoyed!! I put them on my block list, so now it automatically blocks them..

I can only think of one thing is when I was pregnant and I signed up for a baby club, it asked for my number. I gave it cause it sends you updates to your phone. I never got any updates.. So I don't know.

I have gotten several calls... a day. I dont answer the phone, a guy by the name of Samuel keeps leaving the message.

Get a call and the caller ID says out of area and no number and a person
named Jason says call back as ASAP leaves a number but talks so fast you can't
hardly understand.  Leaves this number when you call it you get a automated system and they say NCC so haven't a clue who they are and what they want.

I got a call from this number and found out the company name. I checked my credit report and there is no such account on any of the 3 of them. We get calls asking for neighbors and people with the same last name as us, I figure this is one of them.

This number 800848-2170 calls and says it is not a telemarketing call. They don't say who they are and tell me to quote license # 19734460. We don't have a license with that #???

Person acted a an investigator for the government 800 848-2170 x 249 Martin Well contacted the attorney General Office for the state of PA. This is a collection Agency guy could barley speak english

These people are a scam and it's a pretty common one.  They try to make you believe you owe them money when you really don't.  I've received calls and letters where I work as the Accounting Mgr from other companies using the same scam trying to get the company I work for to pay money too.  If you actually talk to someone just tell them you know it's fraud and that you've already contacted the Federal Trade Commission, US Postal Inspector (if you've rec'd a letter#, the State Attorney General #where you live and where they operate from), and your own attorney.  Tell them it would be in their best interest not to contact you ever again.  This will do the trick!

Against all guidelines or laws of the Fiar Debt Collection Practices Act, the call with "unkown name and number" and they never leave a message. They have called me for the wrong people, most of the time. By law they are supposed to say they are a debt collectiona agency attempting to collect a debt.
They really do seem to vilate that all the time. I never had them give their identity or describe what the call was for.

Has anyone sent a formal complaint to the FCC?  I'm going to.  What they are doing is illegal & could be charged with many fines,  You may be entitled to some of the fines collected!!!
