800-853-4169

These people have been calling our house repeatedly over a two day period. Heavy foreign accident and pronouncing my name as "Jeanie." I got ornery with the last one and demanded a name and phone number -- HSBC at 1-800-853-4169. Our number is supposed to be on a no call list.

Got the same call - They spoke to my wife and identified themselves as HSBC Bank.

They would not give any information to my wife saying they had to speak to me only but they did (finally) provide a call back number of 800 853 4169 no extension.  Wife said they were rather rude so this sounds more and more like someone making min wage in telesales, cold calling people for some kind of protection insurance on a CC.

I did try calling the number back.::: NOTE ::: When asked, DO NOT enter anything or you can speed up the process by pressing the # key 1-2 seconds apart for 3 durations.  Either way, you get routed to a customer care specialist. 1 second clip of music and a few rings later you get this…

"Thank you for calling customer service.  Currently our systems are updating and we are unable to assist you at this time.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and request you call back at a later time.  Thank you."

Having call center experience, I found it odd for a call center to be updating their systems in the middle of a US workday, which also takes their phone systems offline for service.  Really?? Running updates and taking your systems offline during the part of the day, which provides your highest potential of call opportunities??  Really??

I realize I’m stretching here, but let’s use the example that I’m refusing to admit this is only a sales call and let’s say I still believe I really need to talk with these people.  I’ll give them the benefit of the doubt that perhaps it’s an outage.  Either way, I’m sure a company ‘wanting’ you to contact them would complete their update quickly OR correct the issues ASAP to ensure calls keep coming in. Right???

Seems a lot of system updating is going on today, and based on other posts on this and other sites, I see the same responce on different days at different times.  Not sure if this applies but I used to think an 800 # costs a company ~$1.00 per call.  So for a company who wants me to call them back at this number, did I just cost them $10 in call fees?  Perhaps not, but what would happen if the thousands of people they call everyday found this post and did the same thing calling them 10 times?  I certainly don’t condone calling anyone who does not want your call (ironic, huh?), but these guys left me the number to call them at this number and I’m simply trying to get in touch.  Perhaps you need to get in touch with them as well so you do what they asked and call them a number of times until you can reach them?

I rec'd the same type of call from same #.  Could not understand the person.  It was 9:53 pm I asked him several times for his name but could not understand him and then asked him for a call back # he gave me 800-853-4169.  I thought they were not supposed to call after 9 pm.  This is crazy.

They were reluctant to tell me a call back number.  Then I called the real # HSBC and they knew nothing of the call, or this phone number.

Guys if you get a call from this 800 853 4169 then immediately jus hang up. because they might tell u that they represent HSBC but the actual call is from INDIA. that number belongs to a offshore call centre located in southern part of india exactly (chennai).  

I am an ex-employee of this company. they do all the fraudulent work just cheating customers by having them enrolled into a credit card insurance program. They cheat and attract customers by saying that they have eliminated all the charges for their credit card for ex - No Interest charges,or finance charges.

This is just like a spam. This is a product from HSBC BANK but they sell it in a different way. This protection plan works only if you undergo an qualifying event lik if you lose your job or laid-off. beware customers.

do not proceed with the call. Just call up HSBC BANK directly and lodge an official complaint. Just try TO record these calls and send them to HSBC bank. Because the bank is not aware about the way they sell the product.

Beware of PERSONAL ACCOUNT PROTECTION.(PAP).

These people have been calling me for weeks and then hang up whenever I ask to take a message. Today I demanded that they tell me what the call  was about and why they needed to speak to my husband. They mentioned that he has an account with them when I know that he doesn't. Thank you for informing us about this scam....

Okay, I called the HSBC number that I found online and they said that that number is a valid number and it is their card services department.

So, what which is it? Legit? Not Legit? They double check to see if you have an account there but ask to give your social security number to find out. No I didnt give it to therm, so we'll see if they stop calling.
