Report a phone call from 800-861-4760 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- WhyDidThatPersonCallMe?My phone was ringing so I got up and answered it. It was a man. He asked me how my day was and i replyed, "good, i guess" Then he asked if i was Michelle. I told him no. Then he asked if he could talk to Michelle. I told him there was no one at my house named Michelle. Then he said, "Really?" and i said, "Yes. Goodbye now." and hung up the phone. I haven't received any other phone calls from this number, but it sort of freaked me out. I have never received a phone call from a company asking me how my day was or if i was "Michelle" or any other name. I read some of the other reports about this and it seems as if something is wrong with the people calling. Someone needs to report this soon.
- not importantGot calls from this place... evidently, they bought very old debt (even debts from my deceased father) and are trying to collect. They were impolite and insistent. If I or you pay them, you are paying them, not the original debt holder - they buy old debts from old accounts and other debt collectors, not from the original stores or services.

- BunnyI get calls from this number all the time. My answering maching takes my calls but these people never leave a message. Any ideas of who this is?
- What's in a nameI have absolutely no business with these people yet they call all the time and leave no message. This is what I found about this number. There are many numbers they use and I have provided a link to the site, from which I found the info.
"Are you receiving calls from one of the numbers below? If so, you are being contacted by a Collection Agency called Cavalry Portfolio Services. Cavalry Portfolio doesn't just call and attempt to coerce payments of debt through telephone calls. Cavalry Portfolio has also been known to buy debts and then sue the consumers for money." http://www.protectingconsumerrights.com/debt- ... folio-services/- Caller: Cavalry Portfolio Services

- LauraCalled me looking for a relative
- veryangryThis call came today and showed on ID as Bank of America (I have no debt with Bank of America and have never had an account with them). A message was left by a woman who said her name was Stacy Dalton calling from Calvary Portfolio, 1-800-861-4760, extension 31656. The message stated she was looking for (my name) and that if the person listening to this message was not (my name) then they should not listen to the rest of the message. She proceeded to literally count down with what she called a "pause in the message", I assume to give the wrong person time to no longer listen. She counted down "3, 2, 1" and then gave the exact dollar amount I owed and who the original creditor was including the name of the bank who now owns my account (which was not Bank of America). She gave a reference number to my account and her extension. I called her back and she proceeded to list of a bunch of disclosures. I interrupted her and told her I had a disclosure for her and that I was upset that she had left the dollar amount on the message. She asked me if I wanted to talk to her manager and I said I sure do. Michael got on the phone and proceeded with the exact same disclosures Stacy had. I chewed him out for Stacy leaving the dollar amount and all he had to say was that it was federal law that states that they HAVE to leave a message like that, and now "how would you like to take care of your debt?" I told him I would pay it when I have the money and with the other 3 debts I am paying off right now I have no more room for another agency, and if they call back they will be blocked anyway. He said okay and that he hoped the rest of my day would be a good one. I hope by the time I am ready to take on that debt that I can go through someone else because I don't trust Calvary. And to you people who like to yell "It's your debt, pay it and quit whining," I know I have debt and I am taking care of it. The circumstances were the crash in the economy in my line of work, an injury that did not allow me to work for a while, and a psychotic ex-husband who was not so nice to me. So, since you do not know people's circumstances for being in debt in the first place, don't be quick to judge.
