received calls at my home asking for a person who I have never heard of.  Caller was rude, abrasive and defensive when he asked if this person worked for our business, and i told him no.  gave him office number to call next day to verify i wasn't lying to him.

I did some research. it's an alleged collections agency out of sacramento, CA. They posted an ad in the Sacremento BEE. note the contact number and email...:

Had this call at home, asking for a woman for whom we've gotten many calls. She is Sheila Kirk. She must be one bad credit problem. We've told others not to call us. I asked what company they were and the girl said HOLD ON. A man got on the phone and I asked what company. He asked for this Sheila Kirk person, and I told him no such person, never, not at this number. He said he was with PBC, I asked if they were collections, he said yes. I asked for his name he said Robert. I asked for last name he said irrelevant. I said it is relevant because if we get any further calls we will try to bring charges against this PBC company. As I spoke, he hung up on me.

Got a strange call from "Paul"  with these people looking to contact someone I know in regards to a "personal matter".  He said he was given this number and please forward his name, number and extension to my acquaintance.  I googled the number and got this website...called Paul back and told him I would contact a lawyer regarding harassment if I received another call.  He was very cordial, confirming my number and said he would take it off his list. We shall see...

I keep getting calls from this number. The message I get is as follows: This is Mr. Smith calling for (my name). I have some information that you must obtain. Please call back when you receive this message at 1-800-866-2528 ext. 2289. This Mr. Smith doesn't identify the company that he is from and leaves no furhter information. I'm not in the habit of returning phone calls to people that don't fully indentify themselves or thier intentions. The reason I'm reporting it, is that they recently started calling me at my job. I don't know how they obtained my work number and I've already been warned to have them stop call me at work or I will lose my job. My employer has a strick policy on not receiving or making personal call on company time, unless it is an emergency.

Oh yeah, the other thing thats happening is that the are calling my old number, which is my ex's number. She has told them to not call her number anymore but they continue to do so. She has contacted me about this problem and I recently called the number this weekend and all I got was there voicemail or that this number has not been assigned message from the phone company.

So, when I did get the voicemail I left them a message not call me and not harrass anyone else, or I would be calling a lawyer to go after them.....

CALLED TO HAVE NUMBER REMOVED TRANSFERED TO A AMBER GONZALES VERY RUDE I ASKED HER TO REMOVE THE NUMBER AND SHE RESPONDED I WANT TO KNOW WHO (PERSONS NAME) IS?!!!THE TONE OF HER VOICE WAS RUDE I  RESPONED NO ONE HAS EVER ASKED FOR ANYONE THEY JUST SAY TO CALL THIS NUMBER AND I TOLD HER SHE WAS EXREMLY HATEFUL SHE THEN RESPONDED HAVE YOU LOOKED IN THE MIRROR THIS MORNING?!!!!  I THEN ASKEDHER FOR HER NAME AND SHE REFUSED TO GIVE IT TO ME BY IGNORING MY QUESTION I AGAIN ASKED HER FOR HER NAME AND SHE AGAIN IGNORED ME I THEN ASKED TO SPEAK TO HER SUPERVISOR  A SUPERVISOR  OR THE CEO OF THE COMPANY SHE SAID OK YOU WANT HIM ?! I SAID YES. SHE REPEATED YOU WANT HIM?! I SAID YES AGAIN AND SHE SAID OK YOU LISENING I SAID YES SHE SAID AGAIN YOU LISENING I SAID YES AND SHE HUNG UP ON ME.   IM NOT SURE WHY  YOU HAVE BEEN CALLING MY HOME, I DOKNOW NOW YOUR COMPANY APPEARS TO BE A COLLECTION AGENCY.  I ALSO KNOW I OWE NOONE MONEY OR HAVE NEVER BEEN LATE WITH A PAYMENT IN MY LIFE.  I ALSO KNOW MY HUSBAND IS NOT  BEING LOOKED FOR BY ANY COLLECTION AGENCY.  SO I DIDNT DESERVE THIS TREATMENT.  THIS IS CLARLY VERBLE ASSAULT  AND MS GONZALES SHOULD BE FIRED FOR BREAKING THE LAW AND CAUSING HARM TO ANOTHER.  IF YOU WANT PEOPLE TO WORK WITH A COLLECTION AGENCY I WOULD ALMOST BET THIS IS NOT THE WAY TO GET IT DONE.  UNKNOWN

Got a phone call from them, the left a message saying to call "Miss Rainey" at this number ext. 2216. Didn't identify themselves as to what company they represent, and the very interesting thing is that the don't show up on Caller ID *AT ALL*!! Don't think I'm calling them back, no way.

No one has our cell phone number except friends and family.  We have also had the phone number for over 8 years.  So if it is a collection agency they have the wrong number.  They did not leave a message.

That happened to me! This woman keeps calling me everyday asking for this Richard person. I called back to tell them there was no one by that name and she hung up on me.

Someone named Diane Jones keep calling my cell phone from this number asking for someone I have never heard of and when I try to connect to a person to tell them they have the wrong number they hang up before I can finish and yet still call.

The number 18008662528 is a collection agency (Professional Bureau of Collections Maryland). They go after you and harass you as much as legally possible to try to solve a debt that you've left with someone. I'm getting calls about my HBSC loan that I got a few years ago. I filed taxes with H&R Block, but the gov't kept my return because of some stuff my ex husband left behind. So, they're after me for the money. I've made several attempts to call them back, they always leave messages or call me while I'm at work, but after being on hold for 20 minutes, I hang up the phone. The one time I tried to make payment arrangements with the lady I was talking to, she said she needed to update my files, started to ask me alot of questions that had nothing to do with my finances (relatives numbers & my work numbers). Not thinking so. They are trained to be rude. Trying to intimidate the common person and scaring them into paying a debt that we can't pay in full.

This company needs to be investigated by the FCC.  They leave messages with personal information on my phone for someone else saying don't listen to this if we have called the wrong number.  Isn't that illegal?  It's against the law to harrass the CORRECT person, let alone the wrong one.  I have had 3 messages from them telling me to call them back to resolve my debt or have my number removed if they are calling the wrong person.  After reading other complaints, I'm not calling anyone back, I blocked their phone number!

I have this charge in my name only. They wanted a payment. I told them that I do not get paid for another week. They knew my husband will be paid tomorrow and how much he makes. Then they were very rude to me. Saying that they knew I could not make the payment in full and that I better pay the payment immediately. They were horrible!

Keep getting calls from this # & haven't been answering. Now they're blocking the # when they call to so I will answer.

Rose, have you considered TrueCall call blocker?  I have only heard good reports about it but I don't own one and it is a bit expensive.  Available at Amazon etc.

They keep calling my wife's cell phone. She tried to talk to them once, but they refused to identify themselves and asked for account information, DOB, SS#. The wife refused and they became rude until she finally hung up on them. We don't have any debt relation with them and this sounds more like a bunch of illegal scumbags trying pull off a scam. Too bad they aren't local so I can pay them my respects personally.

Called for me at work. I work NIGHTS and have never given my work number out to any business. I am not behind on any bills and have nothing sent to collections. When I called back at NIGHT no answer and eventually my call went to a fax machine or something that screeched in my ear. The gal on evenings who got this call for me at work and took the message told them I work nights and that they should call my personal phone but guess they don't know me too well --- didn't call my personal number. There was no message and no statement of company name or intent just to call back at ask for Mrs. Fitch at extension blah blah. Who calls themselves Mr. or Mrs. Whatever? Everything is first name only or full name. I called the name of business as "PBC" without any identification of what that stands for, and "how may I direct your call" to which I responded "to the DO NOT CALL list" and some other choice words.

What I got on my home phone, already filed a complaint with do not call list! I am not afraid of these scum bags and will blow a whistle in their ear next time they call! sick and tired of rip off artists, as if it isn't bad enough were already being scammed by every business government etc........
