I just received a call from 800-889-1952, this is FMS (Financial Management Systems) a collection agency. They were looking for a Juan Ramirez, I tried to inform the guy that this was a cell phone number that I have had for over 4 years and that I did not know a Jua Ramirez, but he hung up on me. I called them back and politely asked them to reomove my number from their collection screen. The second guys I spoke to was Robert, and he advised that he would remove my number and document their system.

This number has been showing up at 8:05 am and they never leave a message. I thought 9:00am was the earliest telemarketers can start harrassing people. I think if they are a professional organizatiom, they could atleast identify temselves by leaving a message--Rude!!

Claim to from FMS and wanted me to confirm my SS and did not and then he wanted me to confirm by home address I did not and then proceed to tell me I should call him back. The person making the calls is Curtiss Ford and is calling at work.  Be aware

This phone number made numerous calls to my wifes cell phone. No one spoke yet tied up the line for over 5 minutes.  Voices and background noise was present.

Yes, they're a collection agency... but they're probably calling about student loans.  At first, the guy was pretty confrontational, but he calmed down pretty quickly when I proved to be a reasonable person.

I'd never made a payment on my student loans in over ten years.  They've got me set up on a plan to rehabilitate them - bring them current again - after ... uh, I think it's paying 10% (in three payments) and then making 6 monthly payments.

Personally, I'm a big fan of them.  They're helping me get a -huge- black mark off my credit.  I've got no problems with them whatsoever.

FMS called me on my student loans. The first guy called told me I had to pay 13000.00 down and a 1000.00 a month. I told him no way in hell i could do that.  He then told me I would pay 4000.00 a month and I laughed even harder.  He then hounded me for a few weeks so I changed my number. After two years a new guy got my new number and we worked out a resonable payment plan. It's going good so far.  The economy is in the tank so they're desperate for any money they can get. They'll work with you if you get the right person.

This company is calling repeatedly and is considered harrassment. Their is an option if you are not"xxxxxxx",press two. Pressed two and they keep calling. I AM NOT THE PERSON THEY ARE ALLEGEDLY CALLING FOR AND THEY WON'T LISTEN. This website leaves a little to be desired, as it has a REPORT IT in red like a link - which goes nowhere.

These idiots are part of the federal government and an example of your tax dollars at work. The contact number on the U S Treasury website for FMS (that's who is calling you from 1-800-889-1952)cannot be completed as dialed from the website. Evidently the laws against harrassing citizens and non-debtors does not apply to them

Left a recorded message on my voicemail (the first part of it was cut off) verified my name and left the number 800-889-1952 to call back regarding collecting a debt. The office was closed when I called back but the outgoing message for the voicemail said the persons name (I didn't write it down) and that he would return the call at -his- earliest convenience.

This is a scam just to get your SS# and sell it in the black market.  Apparently they never did their research.  If it is all about student loans my loan is auto pay so there is no delay in payments.  If this debt would affect my credit score, then how was I able to get a house in this economy.  It's a scam.  I don't spend the energy I just erase them.

I got several blocked-ID automated calls over the past few days (at reasonable times) from FMS asking for the last four digits of my social security number. They refused to say what the call was about until I gave the numbers. This sounded like fraud to me, so I just hung up. Finally a person called and asked for the same information. Again I hung up, but this time he returned the call, which went to my answering machine. This time he stated that this concerned debt collection (they used to use mail first). He gave his name as Michael Carlson, his number as 866-296-7954 x 5964. I called that number, and it was someone else's answering service, which is strange for an apparently large company. I left a message asking him to call me back. I don't believe I have any debts, but it certainly could result from a false claim of debt.

Unfortunately, I don't know whether FMS is a scam or not. A Web search gave very few 'fraud' results, which is good. Their Website looks reasonable, although their FAQ page was under construction, which is suspicious for a company that has been in existence for over 15 years.

I will probably talk with them further, but I won't give them identifying information. If they keep insisting, I'll report them to the phone company, the Attorneys General, and various other agencies and see what happens. I would think it unethical to ask for identifying information without first establishing the exact nature of the business at hand.
