The company calling from that number is a telemarketing firm hired by SEARS to try to sell you extended warranties on products you may have bought from Sears. We've been getting them, too, for warranties on our washer/dryer. We originally got warranties with the appliances, and we were glad we did, because they were the biggest pieces of junk we've ever purchased. We've had nothing but trouble with them from day 1. When they started to call me back about renewing the warranty, I told them no, that if they break again, I'm going to one of their competitors and buying something that isn't garbage.

Picked up but got dead air -- guess their predictive dialer dialed out more times than they had available reps...

I was called day and night as well. I called the number back and it was Sears regarding extended warranties and/or service agreements. I was able to talk with Jessica who said my telephone and address would be put on a no solicitation list. Let's see what happens.

I'm glad this forum is here. They just called me ON A SUNDAY at 9:00!!!

My sears bill is paid up, so they must just want me to buy an extended warranty on my AC unit, for which the warranty is about to expire.

But on a SUNDAY???!!! Nothing infuriates me more.

We get calls from this all the time at odd times. Called this number back. It is Sears Protection Agreement. Waited till a human came on. Asked to be taken of the call list. They wanted phone number, then name. When they asked for address I refused to give it. The operator claimed not able to take me off the list unless I gave the address. Asked for a manager. Manager also refused unless I gave an address. I asked her if she maybe wanted some creit card numbers to. She hang up on me ! This is extremely unprofessional behaviour from a company like Sears.

these people are telemarketers. Once they called when we were out of town, they faked it and charged the renewal contr to our sears account, saying my husband (whose name is on the records)made the purchase, this was a lie, he leAR4Xves all of that business up to me. I called and after much conversation had it removed from our acct. I also said I NEVER WANTED SEARS TO CONTACT ME THROUGH A TELEMARKETER AGAIN. But every year about a mo. or 2 before renewal time the calls would begin, I have call blocker so I have this # blocked. I was also told by one of the telemarketers if I did not take the contr from her on that day I would have to pay more the next time I called, and I could only purchase it from her.  I hung up and called Sears customer service in N. Carolina, I not only got the contract remnewed by a very polite agent, I also was able to purchase it at a much lower price.  DON'T LET THESE TELEMARKETERS WHO ARE WORKING ON COMMISSION BULLY YOU!!!!!

I have also been harassed by people calling from this number.  They call and wake me up every day but never leave a message.  When I found this site and realized it was Sears, I called and asked to be taken off the list and they said it would take 6-8 weeks.  So I guess they are going to continue to harass me, even though I already purchased a protection plan and I am going to be returning the junk, damaged fridge they sold me anyway.  Sears is a horrible company, they will never get my business again.  I will laugh my head off when they finally go under.

I talked to an Amanda six weeks ago telling her to take me off their calling list.  She promised she would process that immediately.  Two days later they were calling me again, same person saying her name was Amanda, so I blasted her and she claims she never spoke to me.  I get the calls from this number four times a day - first one usually comes it around 8:00 a.m. and the last is usually at 8:59 p.m.  They always time that last one for right before 9 p.m.

I've even asked to speak to a supervisor and got his name after promising I'd be taken off their call list.  Nothing seems to work, so I've reported them to the Federal Do Not Call list site.

Sure enough, it's been six weeks and they're still calling.  Yesterday they called at 7:58 a.m. on a Saturday.  Each time, there is dead air until a computerized voice comes on and says wait for an available rep.

Here's what I'm doing and think others should do as well.  First, I'm not hanging up, I'm making sure they pay for the call.  It seems to take about one to two minutes for a rep to be available.  During this time, I crank up some of my son's heavy metal, place the phone right in front of the speaker and walk away.

We had a fridge fixed 6 months ago and this number calls us all the time. So far today (Memorial Day) they have called us at 10:15am and 11:54am. It is Sears protection plan and they do not take you off the calling list (we requested this months ago).

To file a complaint, call Sears Customer Relations: 1-800-549-4505
Also file a complaint on the Do Not Call Registry: https://www.donotcall.gov/

I have been on the Do Not call National Registry for over two years or more, and this Sears/800 service still calls night and day. I also have called Sears Customer service and told them NO more calls..months ago. It still happens 2- 3 times a day.

I think this is a warranty division of Sears at this number, and although I have had a Sears account for over 30 years...that doesn't give them the right to so loosly use the rules to say we do business , just because I purchase from the store, or catologue. I do NOT purchase from their Warranty service.

I recently had Sears do my carpets, and terhy do use a sub contractor for that work always....I'm thinking that outfit sold or triggered my number???

I'm going after them.  I have filed the complaint on the do not call resistry months ago too.  That apparently does very little!

I am listed in "Do Not Call" yet I have received 50 calls from this number.  There were so many that it blocked my called ID and filled the directory after knocking off the entries I had saved.

I talked to Sears and they said they were trying to get this stopped.

Got 4 calls from this number today.  1st came in at 8:26 AM.  I didn't answer, they didn't leave a message.  2nd came in at 5:24 PM.  I wasn't available, they didn't leave a message.  3rd came in at 7:53 PM.  I still wasn't available, they didn't leave a message.  4th came in at 8:47 PM.  I was eating dinner, so obviously wasn't going to answer.  They didn't leave a message.  Maybe I'll wait until 3 AM and then call the number back and insist they stop calling me.

I've stopped these kinds of calls in the past by asking for a manager, then explaining that I have Caller ID and Privacy Manager, so their number shows up when they call, and if I see this number again on my Caller ID, I will report them for phone harassament.

They have called me three times today.  I don't answer and they hang up when the answering machine picks up.  I also have do not call, but it isn't stopping them.  If they call again, I will answer it and ask they take me off their list - after I get the person's name and the company.

I am constantly getting calls from 800-927-2291.  Initially I ignored them but am getting them so much that the past few times I picked up the phone, the line was dead, meaning that they hung up.  Amongst the things I do upon receiving phone solicitations are 1. telling them that I am on the Do Not Call Registry and I request the name of their company so I can report it.  This gets them off the phone in a hurry.  2. I tell them I ONLY respond to mailed solicitations, not ones made by phone, fax or e-mail.  I have received very very few followups through the mail.

These cretins (800-927-2291) have been calling me daily for a long time, but yesterday (8/9/08)really put the blitz on me: 6 calls between noon and 6:30p.
Filed complaint with "do not call" registry, but I'd be surprised if it magically stops.
Is there any way to block 800 calls?
    • Caller: Suspect it's Sears, based on info
