- LYNDA B.| 3 repliesWhoever these [***] are, they've called my home phone 38 times in the past 3 days. I didn't recognize the number, so I didn't answer any of the calls, except for the last two; and they always hung up without leaving a message. The first time I answered, I said nothing; and they hung up. The second time, I said Hello, and they hung up. Then I used my cell phone to dial the number, but of course no one answered. I got a voicemail thanking me for calling, then I was promptly disconnected. I've been told that a number of shady callers listen for someone answering, or for a voicemail greeting, then just hang up and sell your number to scammers as a 'working number'. It so sucks. However, two nights ago, I discovered my Panasonic home phone has a "Block Caller" feature! Yay!! I typed in this number; and the next two times they tried to call, I got a single partial ring, then nothing. Interestingly ... they've NOT tried to call me since! YES!!!!
- anonymousSpam from Provo Utah
- irritated in floridaCaller said it was for a survey. This is how they are getting past the do not call law. after the survey they can then try to sell
- Call type: Survey
- ChristeneThey keep calling the house. I want to it stop
- Caller: Provo
- Call type: Telemarketer
- SPI got a call they did not say anything. So I called back and to my surprise someone answered. She said they are doing a survey for yellowpages.com and asked me a few questions about how I find local businesses.
- Call type: Survey
- RoeI invested in a call blocker device (which blocks up to 1,200 numbers as well as area codes) and if I see a number on m caller id that I do not recognize, I google it and it is always a number that is harassing people. Then it gets immediately blocked and if they should call again, it cuts them off after one ring and does not even ring in my home. I bought it on Amazon for about $60.
I also report each and every spam caller to the donotcall registry.- Caller: Provo UT
- MariaMe han estado hablando todos los dias, dicen que es un survey, gracias
- DeeMy land line caller id read May 21, 2015 at 7:06pm 1-801-471-2825, Provo, UT. I didn't pick up, because I don't know anybody in Utah and they didn't leave a message. Please make them stop; I'm on the Do Not Call Registry. Thank you!
- Caller: Provo, UT
- Ruth replies to LYNDA B.Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!! I, too, have a Panasonic but didn't realize it had a call block feature. I've already had 3 calls from this number today so needless to say, it will be the first "victim" of the feature. LOL
- SThis number called me and a robot said it was a pet amber alert for a cat named smokey? Weird. It's called 4 times in 4 days with the same message. Not sure what to think about it.
- SharonCThese people have been harassing me for the past week, non-stop, several times per day. They also call very early in the morning which disturbs my sleep. I am also on the Do Not Call Registry. I don't have a call-blocking feature on my phone, however, I will be shopping for that call-blocking device from Amazon which I consider a good investment.
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Clarence VECaller said they were doing a survey. Tried to tell them no but it appeared to be recorded because no one responded.
Then they hung up.- Call type: Survey
- Jimbo replies to LYNDA B.I'm glad that you found this feature on your phone. I have bought Panasonic phones specifically for this feature. I love it. One note though,it only holds a certain # of calls for you to block, but if that happens then just unblock a few of the oldest ones(they usually stop calling after awhile) and add the newest [***] to the block list. ALL phones should have this feature.
- ldjf replies to LYNDA B.thanks for the tip!
