My FTC complaint:

"They have been calling been calling me at my home phone several times a day for the greater part of the past week. I have had this number for over 3 years now. My phone would ring several times; sometimes setting off the answering machine and sometimes not. When I would check the caller ID displays for these calls it would display: "Utah" on line one and "801-902-2429" on line two.  They usually hang up before the answering machine.

"On Friday, November 14th, they had called once early in the morning; setting off my answering machine but not leaving a message. They called again, several hours later and I was able to catch the call. After saying "hello" several times I was addressed by a name other than my own; I believe the name might have been "****" or "****". I told the caller that there was no one with that name at this household and that I was the owner of this phone number. I told the caller that this was not the first time I had received calls from his phone number, that I had received several calls a day from that number for the past few days and that the calls were annoying and disruptive to me. He proceeded to tell me that they had every right to make the calls because he was a bill collector and not a telemarketer. He finally told me that I WOULD NOT BE CALLED anymore; that my number would be removed from a data file and placed on a do not call list. I have SINCE RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL from this number today, November 11th, at ****."

I have been receiving several phone calls per day on both my land line and on my cell phone from (801)902-2429. Whoever is calling never leaves a message so I have no idea who this is, nor do I want to know unless they care to leave me a message. This is annoying and I have no idea how to make it stop.

they call late at night, early in the am.  when i answer they don't say anything. how do i get them to quit calling?

These calls are not coming from Discover Card, but are spoof calls from Portfolio Recovery Associates, 120 Corporate Blvd, Norfolk VA. 23502. PRA does have offices in Salt Lake City, UT. Please file a criminal complaint regarding harassment and stalking with the US Justice Dept, Att. Steven Curran, Deputy Chief, 950 Pennsylvania Ave NW., Criminal Division, PHB, Washington, DC 20530. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to CEO Steven Fredrickson and Portfolio Recovery [***], we have been watching you. There is a rattlesnake in your backyard, look and see, wimps.

I have contacted the FTC and the FCC (and I will continue to do so every time I get a call from Discover)to report repeated telephone calls from Discover looking for someone I have never heard of. This is irresponsible corporate citizenship and consumers should not be subjected to their abuse of the communications systems.

They are also phishing for information, e.g. asking what is your mother's maiden name, etc.

Whoever this company is, they have been calling my number many times per day, Monday to Sunday.  What can we do with this people who calls us every fxxxing day, it's unbearable.

this number has called me 13 times in the last 4 days and triggered my voicemail twice, identifying themselves as either discover card or discover financial services, how the f did they get my number. what sucks more is that i have a prepaid cell phone so i dont want to pick it up just to have them hang up on me, which they have done. i dont have a discover card and i never give my cell number on any form or survey. they usually wake me up when they call for the first time each day too

this number is on my caller id every day. Someone is trying to make me believe I am some strange name and when I notify him I am the wrong person, that miserable creature asks me for the routing number of my checking account. What a strange request. Then he listens to my explanation, pauses for 5 seconds and asks for the routing number again. US is the only country in a world where I was able to meet the greatest and the most stupid people I ever saw in my life.

this number keeps coming on my caller id when i do answer it no one says anythging and then they call back asking for different people. tired of it

I get 4 or more calls a day from this number Monday through Satuday and at least 1 time on Sunday. So that comes out to at least 25 times a week. They have done this for 3 full months and were into the 4th month. Sometime a they leave an automated message and sometimes no message.

I have e-mailed Portfolio Recovery Assoc., as above Rattlesnake identified the offensive party, and received the following:
Your email has been received.  I do not find  [your telephone numbers] in our system at this time. Also, 801-902-2429 does not belong to our company.

This number calls me numerous times a day! Never leaves a message, and often hangs up on me when I answer!!!

I activated a cell phone this morning and would you believe, I have received 6 phone calls already today.  No messages, and no person on the other end when I have answered the phone.  Gone are the days when we could live our lives unharnessed by computer generated phone calls, solicitors, and ID thieves.

i have jsut begun receiving these calls. I don't owe anyone anything that would relate to this company and at 8:33 this am I get another call. I haven't been around when the calls come in so I haven't answered any. Just crap on my ID and message that they aren't a tellemarketer....what's up with this??

Well I finally got their call and they were looking for someone else. Weird crap this stuff and reallllly annoying !!

I hope that's the last I have to deal with them.

Steven D Fredrickson is perpetrating a massive fraud with his RICO type company Portfolio Recovery Associates. This company in my opinion is similar in design and scale to the recent Madoff scandal in which Bernard Madoff is currently serving 150 years in prison. I feel Steven D Fredrickson's prison sentence, when it happens, should be longer.

Portfolio Recovery Associates, owned by the master scammer Steven D Fredrickson, might be the biggest scam operation on this planet - Don't ever communicate with them and NEVER send them any money, or it will only get worse.

801-902-2429 is Discover Credit Card collector/bugger
