- anonymousSame thing for me just now. When i heard my caller id say "Virginia" i ran to the phone so i could actually prank these scammers myself since i have received numerous messages over the last 2 weeks. Alas, even when i answered, it was still just a message machine. I immediately called the number back more than 5 times, but just dead, then a busy tone. Seriously, people? I obviously would have just harrassed them, but if they want the naive to actually give them money, they need a working telephone number!!!!!!
- Caller: IRS James Andersin
- Call type: Debt collector
- Person Pt. 3| 1 replyI kept calling him and played along for a while. I also recorded the whole thing.
He alleged that I was going to be arrested within the hour if I didn't wire $3,981. He instructed me that I was to go withdraw the money and not tell anybody about the call etc.
He alleged tax fraud, violation of the tax code/regs, theft by deception, and willful misrepresentation.
For some reason (thanks internet), he did have my contact info sort of correct--even though I provided him with a false phone number. So they're obtaining legit contact info in some way.
Anyway, reported it to the IRS.- Call type: Prank
- Dave replies to Person Pt. 3Called me this morning. This scum bag is a total piece of trash. LIAR!
- JohnYup, got the same call this morning. I talked to him politely and asked him a few questions. When I asked him to give me one piece of personal information about me to verify that he is with the IRS, he said 'f*ck you' and hung up on me.
- Person Pt. 4After calling him back about 10x, he either blocked my number or got rid of that line altogether. An automated voice now comes on the line and says that the number is no longer available.
I kind of miss him...it was nice to spend the afternoon chatting with him about my impending arrest.
Hopefully he isn't reincarnated as something too far down the food chain. #Punarjanma - anonymous| 1 replyThis is the second time in the past 2 months I've received calls from these jerk bags. DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR INFO!

Full story: Received a phone call from man claiming to be Agent James Anderson from the IRS (badge ID: CD164480). He had a very thick Indian accent. He called from the phone number 804-496-1049. He threatened to file a lawsuit on behalf of the IRS for my tax evasion. Said he tried to deliever court papers to a residence I haven't lived in for over 3 years. The IRS has my updated address and has sent my W-2s to my corrent home for years. He threatened to put a lein on all my assets, notify my employer, freeze my bank account if I did not pay $72,000 for a $4,168 miscalulation on my taxes filed in 2008. When I asked what county I'm being sued in, he could not give a direct answer and only responded with California. When I pressed him for more information to confirm my identity, he could only mumble inaudible garbage. When I said I'll follow up with my local IRS agent he hung up.- Caller: IRS Agent
- Call type: Debt collector
- CaliLooks like this clown is using a new number 703 574-7231. Maybe the IRS should visit him?
- Laura DI got this call on my voicemail twice in two days. Same exact message as others reported here on this blog. It must be a recording sounded exactly the same. Very intimidating tho. Hope this guy is caught!! Sounds Indian.
