Recorded message. Supposedly legal arm of IRS. Threatened going before federal magistrate.   IRS does not call. They send snail mail. This scam has been alerted for bilking money from people by scaring them into thinking they have unpaid taxes.

I also received 2 calls within an hour from 804-916-0700, supposedly from the IRS Tax Audit Department, threatening I would be brought before a Federal Magistrate for tax evasion.  I should immediately called back 804-729-8842 to speak to a Federal Agent.  A woman identifying herself as Officer Kim Reagan began to read her script.

Of course Officer Reagan had a thick Indian accent and was unable to pronounce my last name correctly.  She rattled off her badge number to try to intimidate me and verified my mailing address.  As soon as I informed her that no government office was going to conduct serious business over the phone and she should send whatever documentation she purportedly had, she immediately hung up.

Anyone receiving an IRS Impersonation scam call needs to immediately report this incident to the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration (TIGTA) at 1.800.366.4484 or https://www.treasury.gov/tigta/contact.shtml

Payback is so petty, and fun. If you call this number from a public or business phone, let it ring till you get the busy signal. Hang up and hit redial. After doing this about 5 - 10 times, he picks up. Then you can have fun. Keep asking stupid questions, put them on hold, basically waste their time. After he gets frustrated with you and hangs up, pick a new accent and new scenario and go again. By the way, if you go the route of having several bags of change that you would like to drop off at their office for payment, what is your address? He tells you to go to the IRS office, LOL.
