Report a phone call from 804-887-1200 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- DWGot a call from 804-887-1200 stating they were with BofA and wanting to ask me some questions about a "home loan" account.
"Victor" asked me to identify myself with some personal info, which I did not give. I do not have a home loan at BofA and would not give personal info to anyone who contacts me unsolicited. Victor gave me a number I could call to confirm the validity of the call (800) 638-7783 which does pick up and stars a recorded message that states it "is" BofA.
It sounds legit, but the other recantations in this string indicate otherwise. I also confirmed with the actual BofA that this number is NOT legit. Beware....- Caller: Said it was BofA
- MPSCAM ALERT!
I received a call supposedly from 804-887-1200 (caller IDs can be faked) claiming to be from Bank of America, that it wasn't a sales call and was from their home loans division. The message continued asking me to call 800-358-4148 and any representative answering would be able to assist me.
Checking both those numbers on the 'net, I couldn't find anything that pointed back to the Bank of America webs. I called Bank of America directly from one of the numbers on THEIR web site and gave them both numbers. The representative checked both and neither was a BoA phone number.
If you get a similar call, jot down the numbers. Go to the real Bank of America web site's Contact Us section and fetch a number from there. Call Bank of America and provide them with the phone numbers. The information will be passed on to the fraud division who will go after the scammers.- Caller: not BoA
- induThis is the BOA Equity lines of Credit collections dept.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Debt collector
- Michele DouglassThey called regarding our mortgage, told them this wasn't a good time and got a call back number. I do not have a mortgage with BofA, gives rise to suspicion. She said she needed 5 minutes of my time. .??
- Caller: Bank of america
- KevinThis is legit. It is indeed Bank of America, Home Equity Line of Credit department. It IS NOT necessarily collections. In my case, they were calling to remind me that the withdrawal period was ending soon. I had received the message on my answering machine, came here to look up the number, and then called BofA directly and asked them if the number was legit. They said it was.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Event reminder
- EricGot a call from "Veronica" purporting to be from Bank Of America wanting to talk about my home loan. She started asking for all kinds of personal details but I interrupted her, and asked for a direct number I could call that was listed as a BofA number. She gave me 800-358-4148. I can find no record of either of these phone numbers belonging to Bank of America. I called the number on the back of my card and the representative could find no reason that they would be calling me about my home loan.
"Veronica" was very well-spoken and acted professionally, so beware - if this was a scam call they are getting very good at sounding like professionals. - CandyThis is a legimate call from BOA Equity Line department. They were recently involved in a class action lawsuit regarding the illegal closing of equity loans under the pretense that market values dropped drastically. I received money from the settlement- about $100. They are in the process of re-activating all the closed accounts and they have to contact the customers via phone in order to verify information on the accounts.
- Caller: Debbie with BOA
- Jacob| 1 replyThere is one very odd connection betwen those posts on here saying this number is legitimate. They are "stand alone" and do not immediately follow a complaint. In some cases there are months between complaint and "positive"post. Why would several different people who claim the number is genuine BOA look the number up on a nuisance call reporting site? Could they possibly be trying to get people to answer these calls believing them to be genuine?
- BrianGot a call from this number saying they were from BoA and that they needed to inform me of some changes to my account. She asked for my full home address and birth date, which I didn't give her. She understood and said she had left a message on my business line with the callback number (I chose not to get it from her at that point). Not sure if they called my office yet, but they did call my cell right before they called the house. (time passes) And yes, I just called BoA at their HELOC existing customer 800 number and they did confirm that they called me to tell me the repayment period on my HELOC was going to start one year from now (never mind that they've sent me two mailing notices about it, one last year, one this year), but I refused to authenticate over the phone. So this is legit. Hooray!
- Caller: Bank of America
- Call type: Event reminder
- Brian replies to JacobI looked up the number after I got off the phone with Sylvia (BoA rep I mention below) and decided to call BoA about the issue. So I hope nobody thinks it odd that my post comes months after a negative post; I try to be very security-aware, so Google is your friend and all that.
- SM| 1 replycalled BOA, they confirmed they did not call me. they looked up the number and it was NOT one of their numbers. definitely a SCAM!! be aware please
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Sandy replies to SMYes, I say scam, also. I read all the above about being a BoA Home Equity Line Of Credit thing but I don't have a HELOC with BoA... Got a call with no message
- SharonIt is bofa regarding home equity lines of credit.
- KateThis number called my boss saying they were bank of america and when i asked to take a message they hung up
- Shannon| 1 replyLegit... called BoA and they said my account was noted for a call and they did in fact make the call from their Virginia center. Notes were in my account. I still felt more comfortable calling them back to before giving info
- B-Edwards replies to ShannonSo you got a call and then called back the same number? Or you called the number you already had for BoA?
I think your declaring calls from this number as "Legit" is careless and confusing - borders on shilling. The numbers and names that show in your caller ID can be spoofed for one thing.
I am also troubled that you post here about a number you know to be "good". If it is "good', why would you be looking it up?
