Continuous calls from this number Nipomo CA is all it says on caller ID>

Calls constantly!  Either hangs up or there is no one there.  This is so annoying!  Who are these people?

The call comes in a couple of times a day.  I don't know the message or who is calling
since I never answer it.  Very annoying.

Trying to cash sensitive information about you

This number rings my cell phone at least 5 x a week,and has been doing so for months.

One time I did not have my glasses on, and mistakenly picked up, SILENCE.. so I
said that I am busy and stop calling me... that was yesterday and today they rang again.

Please put these slobs out of business.

This number keeps calling, but no one is on the line to answer.  This has been happening for months now.  How do I stop them from calling my phone?  FRUSTRATED!

I just started receiving calls from this number on my business line (Google Voice), which also begins with 805-619.

I immediately knew what this was, since the same thing started happening on my personal cell from numbers that begin with my cellphone’s area code and prefix.

This spam/scam technique is referred to as "neighbor spoofing,” where  robocallers mask the number they’re calling from to try and trick you into thinking you’re receiving a call from a local individual you may know. That is what I thought when I first started receiving these calls on my cell.

That was my mistake and the downfall of my life long cell phone number which I eventually had to change. When I first started to receive one of these number matching calls I would pick up the phone. However, each time I picked up one of the calls, I started receiving more calls from similar numbers.

It got to the point where I was receiving up to 8 calls a day from around a few dozen different numbers matching my area code and prefix. Blocking the numbers were useless as they would immediately be replaced by another similar number. They had me pegged.

!!!!! DO NOT “IGNORE” CALLS FROM THESE NUMBERS EITHER !!!!!

“Ignoring” the call just tells the Robocalling system that there’s a live human on the end of the line. So if they can’t get you now, they may be able to later. The best thing you can do is just let the call ring through.

I even started reporting the numbers to various entities like my phone providers, IIC, Consumer Reports, the BBB, the FTC and others, but nothing changed. Oh, and before you ask, yes I was registered on the “do not call” list, which is bullsh*t if you ask me.

Heed my warning. I just hope my story can help someone else avoid my mistakes, and save them from this horrific spamming tactic.
