Called my cell phone number hung up before I could answer, no voice mail was left.

Merchants and Medical....BILL COLLECTOR>>AND VERY VERY RUDE!!! But whar eles do you expect from a person that makes a living being BILL COLLECTOR. What a joke of a job!

Some Bill Collectors are extremely rude, and act as if they have never had a debt problem. It happens to some of the most responsible people.
Loss of a job, or a serious health problem can change a persons circumstances in an instant.

Merchants Medical hassled us regularly to collect money from my son who was diagnosed with cancer and going through treatment.

I told them he lost his job, had no insurance or anything (how many 21 year olds have their lives secured)but she did not care.

I understand that it's their job, but I would have a hard time sleeping at night if I hassled a family that was going through something so traumatic and not knowing if their loved one was going to make it, and yes, I explained the entire circumstance to her, yet she continued to call asking me to have my son or myself send them the money for an hospital emergency room visit.

It has been quite distressing to say the least, especially when I hear her on the phone hassling my son while he is puking from taking chemo- these people will have a higher one to answer to some day..

No doubt their attitude is "hey, it's my job"

If my job was to hassle people that are dealing with a deadly illness and have no money, I'd find another line of work.

You never know what your own situation may be some day.

Called and said she just returned from overseas protecting my freedom, asking for my husbands ex-wife. The phone number is under my name, his isn't even on the account! She was the rudest person I have ever encounted on the phone. I told her not to ever call this phone number again.

I receive a call from this phone number and they said that I owe a high amount of debit with the (TCF) - I know that this is not true I own an account with TCF and it's open with money active... so that phone number that the person called me from was not a bill collector

That number calls my phone everyday at least twice...and they either hang up after just a few rings or hang up on me as soon as I say hi. They never leave a message. Took me months to finally find a number to contact them at by looking at web sites like this.
They had been calling my mother's house too, pretending to be a friend of mine from high school in order to get my phone number...which they already had and had been calling but wouldn't answer me when I'd pick up!
Then I finally find a number to contact them, and the woman was beyond rude! Turns out I had a medical bill from my pregnancy that was charged to the wrong insurance and I'd call Medicaid and she told me it was out of their hands (which was incorrect, I have a hearing with Medicaid next month to settle this debt). She told me she'd verified my employment and they would be sending a lawyer to serve me with court papers and that my wages would be garnished to pay the bill.
First, I'm a stay at home mom and student. I told her that her information was incorrect, I don't work (mind you, we were both very heated by this point) and she told well maybe I "needed to get off my [***] [***] and get a job then!" For all she knew, I was disabled and couldn't work and she had the nerve to say that to me! After she said that I replied with, "Serve me papers then, [***], I'm not paying a bill that was supposed to be covered and wasn't due to the hospitals mistake." and hung up. I then called back and asked to speak with a supervisor before I found someone who would talk to me like a rational person. No papers were served to me, I was just sent another bill.....

Anyone who is being harassed by the credit agency....it's illegal for them to do so! In the state of Michigan, a debt collecter may not use profanity with you, threaten to serve you with legal documents when they have no intention of doing so, contact third parties for you information more then one time or lie to a third party to obtain information about you. It's also illegal to use the phone to harass you (example: calling several times and day and hanging up on you or before you even answer!)
I've contacted the federal trade commission with a complaint about my encounter with them, and am calling the Attorney Generals Office tomorrow to file a complaint and I'm planning on suing this company. When a debt collection agency harasses you, you are no longer liable for that debt if you take it to court and win. To top it off, if you win in court...the debt collectors OWE YOU! $1,000 to be exact!
Groups of people may also sue. You have from 1 year of the date of the harassment to file complaints. If anyone was harassed, please file complaints! If you're interested in suing them as a group with me, please get in contact with me!

I am having this same problem... I was just wondering if anyone knows how to actualy PROVE that these people are harrassing us... with my cell phone, it saves all the phone numbers that are called to and from my phone. If the call never actually goes through though, How do I prove in the court of Law that they were actually harrassing me!?

It seems like they're bill collectors, according to you guys. Weird thing is, I've never been in a hospital before. Hmm....

Lady called and asked for my husband. Legitimately, he was not here, and I offered to take a message. The reply was "no, i'll call back later"..

I asked what it was concerning, and she said it was a personal matter. I informed her I am his wife, and she could speak to me about it, and she said No, she would call back another time. I said again, but I am his spouse, you can tell me what this is concerning, and she again said no, she wouldn't. I told her Legally, she was to tell me what it was concerning, and she said "legally i can, but I'm not going to".

are you kidding me? and the ATTITUDE that this woman had. I wanted to reach through the phone and strangle her.

I got my second call that I did not want on my cell phone in 2 and a half years of use and the # was 810-244-4253 I couldn't understand the voices on it, kinda garbled well anyway the business is mermed collector of delinquent medical bills and they are at 6324 Taylor Dr Flint Mi 48507-4680   1-800-562-0273  fax# 810-239-9966   They have another # 810-239-3030 in case you need to call the front desk? Watch out for the sharp teeth? their web site looks like a place to do business???????? don't do it I don't owe any medical bills and they called me?????  Oh maybe I owe my dentist for a filling??????

I just got a call from this number, I tried to do a reverse phone search on it and it came up as residential but no name.  I just googled this number and found this site.  I just paid a bill that was in collection that I had no idea about, luckily I paid it before it hit my husbands credit report but as soon as I contacted them they told me I myself had 3 more in collection with them, the 3 are on my credit report and I'm sorry now that they are there I am not paying them.  Now that they have my number they are going to call and harass me.  When I picked up there was no one there, they hung up.  I think this is their way of keeping a record saying they called me on this date at this time etc. So they can have documentation of their effort to collect this payment.  For all of these bills the 3 on my credit and god knows what they are trying to collect for now I never received one call or letter in the mail!

trying to  get my daughters cell phone number said calling long distance  wanted to leave a messasge i said leave your name and number would not do it and hung up said she was a friend

I recieved a call from this number on my cell and they just asked for Marcia, and since that is my daughters name and she doesn't carry my cell, I told the woman that I had no idea when my daughter would be available at this number since it is my cell phone. She then says to me right...... your daughter was born in 1929. Ok now I knew she was talking about my mother in law since she and my daughter have the same 1st name, and I have medical power of attorney over her, so I asked her if she was talking about my mother in law, and I asked who she was and where she was calling from. She refused to tell me her name or what company she was with, but demanded that I fax her all the information identifying myself and my mother in law and the power of attorney. I again asked for her info and she again refused. I then told her that I was not faxing anything to anyone who refused to identify themselves and she hung up on me.

I just called them at one of the other numbers listed on this site and I told them what was going on and asked if they normally send out a bill by mail and I was told that that information (as to whether they send a bill or not when they get any account) is protected under the HIPA laws, so I told them if my mother in law gets a bill I will pay it if not they can eat it. So then she tries to tell me to fax a copy of everything to them, Itold her I am not sending social security numbers, copies of drivers license etc. she tells me to mark out all the numbers if I am worried about it. You must have to flunk an IQ test to work there.

I just received a call on my cell from the same number 8102444253(Paul Murphy)...he asked for my sister. I said you have the wrong #, they said "oh this isn't her" I said "no, you have the wrong # just like i said". Well this is the number she left for me, do you know her? I said she's my sister and you have the wrong number still. He asked if there was a number he could reach her at...I said yes there is but i'm not going to give it to you. You are more than welcome to give me your number and I can have her call you back. He said she already has it. I said ok then , i'll give her the message.
He then hung up on me.
First off, I dont know how he got my number and it pisses me off that people can harrass you and get away with it. Can't wait for him to call back!!

this number calls me all the time, everytime I answer they hang up. I have no medical bills because I have wonderful health insurance they just call over and over and over again. GRRRR

Caller was looking for a very distant family member. Have no idea how they got my cell number associated with his name - my phone is a work phone and has no connection to this family member.

RUDE and harassing calls (from african american female)for a person unknown to us (Holcombe). Told her twice they had wrong phone number, but auto dialed calls still rec'd EVERY DAY! I want calls from 810-244-4253 to STOP!

Calls my work number several times a day (like 4), I see the number and do not answer it and they NEVER leave a message.
