recently got a call from 813-774-5150. Who?

I received a call from this number 813-774-5150 twice this week on my land line. Tonight, they called at 9 pm. They claimed to be from the Order Conformation Department for Dish Network. They were going to send me a $200.00 gift certificate. When I started asking them questions, we either got disconnected or they hung up.

The only transaction I've done in the past 2 weeks was with Dish Network. Someone either at Dish Network or Sobongo (formerly National Programming Service...NPS) has either allowed their transactions to be seen or someone on the inside has sold that information to scammers.

I called Dish Network to register a complaint about being called by 813-774-5150. After several transfers in which I was disconnected and over 1 hour on the telephone,  I was able to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor said they were unaware of this problem. I told them I am now making them aware. They denied their information could be given out since they don't use 3rd parties that someone else must have given out the information. They claim to be looking into the matter.

I am filing a complaint with the FTC and my local police along with fraud alerts to the 3 major credit reporting agencies (only need to contact 1, they are required by law to inform the others.).I cancelled the credit card used in the original transaction with Dish Network.

I suggest anyone having received one of these calls to do the same thing. Your credit information has been compromised and you may become a victim of identity theft.
