Caller ID was "USF," which I thought might stand for the University of South Florida, my alma mater from forty years ago!  On this website, I found a comment from someone who had received a call from 813-974-8811, also from the University of South Florida, asking for donations.  Whoever called me did not leave a message (I monitor all calls) and I received only the one call.

I have been getting calls from the same number lately. I've gotten about 7 of them in the last 3 months, I would say. The number has never left a message. I have never answered, so I Googled the number, thinking it might be a friend who has moved. This was the first link that came up, and it is odd that USF would be doing this. Not only do I not know how they got my cell phone number, but I've been getting annoying emails about surveys and donations as well.

Same call same number. No message left. Graduated in 1980. Already donated enough thank you!

DONT PICK UP the phone call. They claim to be from USF and are asking for donations. They are very pushy about it also! They want your credit card number over the phone! Weird!

I have received multiple calls (EVEN ON SUNDAY NIGHTS!) from (813) 974 - 8813 and when I googled the number thinking to be from an old friend from Tampa, I see all of these reviews and I did confirm it was a number from USF (Gooo BULLS!!!).  The person does not leave messages and I am not planning to pick up. If they dont leave a message then it must not be important.

I am the current manager of the University of South Florida Telefund.  All calls from 813-974-XXXX numbers are legitimate.  We have a 30 station call center located in the Sam and Martha Gibbons Alumni Center.  All of the stations have different numbers, hence why you may be called from a different number on a different day.  

We call parents of current students, all alumni, and friends of the University. These calls are used to update information, get feedback on the University, and ask for support for our Parents Fund or the college/campus from which an alum has graduated.  

We also call seniors on behalf of the Senior Class Gift Campaign.

You said all 813 numbers are legit.  I got a call from (813) 366-9800 and the caller said he was conducting a survey for Nielson Ratings.  Is it legit?  It's 813, does that mean it comes from a call center run by the school, or that the might be using the same call center?

What it was saying.. was the 813-974 XXXX were USF numbers... not just 813 alone.. omg.. over it SMH

This is USF asking form money. They start by asking for a 100$ and if you decline go down to about 50$, then 25$ and finally 10$ after which they give up.  I would have probably made a donation if it hadn't been for the speedy way the USF Research Foundation paid me royalties for my inventions while I was a student there.  I am not picking up calls from 813-974- any more.

Studying at USF was a good experience but I don't think I owe anything.  I got my graduate degree there but it's not like they did me a favor, I consider us even.

I have received three calls from this number in the past half hour.  I know no one at that university or tht number

USF grad also. Assuming they are trying to raise money. I found them to be very annoying in the past and wouldn't take no for an answer so I won't pick up for them. My degree didn't exactly get me the sparkling career they touted and I still owe student loans so I'm not feeling too compelled to give them money.

Comes up USF, I answered and they asked for me by name, then hung up on me. I called back and they answered and then hung up.

Why don't you leave a message so we know not to call back?!

Same for me, called from 2 diff tele#'s on diff days & did not leave a msg ~
