Report a phone call from 817-381-4889 and help to identify who and why is calling from this number.
- Ami| 1 replyFirst, this was an auto call, as in a pause after I answered and said "hello" before the caller answered back. He was from a local radio station (Lite 103.7fm) and asked if I wanted to claim $500. I asked him how he got my number, and he said he didn't know from what list. He asked my name, and I responded with only my first name. He said, "Great, so Amy, I assume you spell that A-M-Y?" When I said "No" he started guessing different spellings. When I replied, "I am sorry, I don't give personal information over the phone." He responded "Well, ok, FINE!" and hung up.
I immediately looked up the radio station and called. They were having 2 promotions where you could register online and listen for your name to be called, or listen for a certain song each day to call in and win. Both were $500 prizes. When I spoke with a person at the station, she informed me that they did not have anyone or a company cold calling to register people.
I then when to the internet to look up the number. It is registered to Level 3 Communications. When I called that company, they told me they were a phone broker (like Vonage, etc) and sold numbers/service to other corporations. They could not tell me who they sold the number to, but did provide me with an email and number to their Fraud department.
I also called my local PD. In speaking with them, there was little they could do, since I didn't give the caller any information. The office did say that some telemarketer-type calls have gotten as little information as name and birthdate and been able to steal identities. BE AWARE!- Caller: Level 3 Communications (but on CID- unknown)
- Stef replies to AmiI just got that same call....thanks to this site, I did not answer. They did not leave a message.
Thanks Ami
