I got a call from this # saying I had gotten a payday loan and because I failed to pay it back I would go to prison for 16 months....I had never applied for anything like this, nor had I received any money but yet they had my phone # and the last 4 numbers of my social

Beth, same happened to me! Foreign accent...claimed to be from an attorney's office...they had the last 4 of my SS# as well.
I actually have a threatening message they left on my phone & plan to take it to my local PD as soon as the weather breaks.

Total con artists. Already reported to the FTC, definately not a legitimate company.

Got same call. Had previously looked into payday loan, but backed off without any money going into account. Tried to tell me same thing about legal proceedings. Scam!!!!

I just had the same call. he said that the police were coming to serve a warrant to me at  home and work. lol.....never add your info to the payday loan companys website, as soon as you hit i agree they send it to india .

I agree.  I was going to try one and when they told me how much I was approved for $5K, I thought, something isn't right about that so I changed my mind.  They continued to call me and when I told them I changed my mind, the guy laughed at me and now they are calling my work.  I hope they do not call anymore as I told them this line was being recorded.  If you debate with them as I did because they called me a thief, They hang up on you.  So annoying.  I wish I never would have applied.

I just got a call from them. left a measage and Claimed they are sending "Cops" not a police officer to my door. They did have my full SS and an address I lived at for 10yrs, but not in the last 4 since divorced. It completely sounded like a recording from India or some place.

I got a call from this number today and didn't know who it was so i answered it. They stated they were looking for someone that I've never heard of and told them this. The dude laughed and goes just kidding it's me Brian from the 5th grade do you remember me? No I don't know any Brian from the first grade. The guy on the phone continued to get my name making it sound like he knew who i was. I immediately hung up. Shortly after the same guy called back my phone. I answered and kindly told him to stop calling me. He then started claiming how he loves me and wants to have babies with me and get married. Wow I laughed so hard and hung up after telling him to get a life.

I also received calls at work and on my mobile.  They had my address and social and wanted to know if it was correct.  I would not confirm.  They stated I had an outstanding loan thought a company that was a USA Loan affiliate.  Threatening me stating an arrest warrant had been issued and that I would be arrested the next day.  I reported to my bank and registered at Credit Karma to watch my accounts but who else should I report to?  They had sensitive information and the right person would of freely provided thinking it was real.

I got the same call. He told me same thing. So is this a scam?? Who do I need to report it to.

Just received a call from this number at my place of employement as well as my cell.  Man said his name was Ronnie Smith.  He said it was imperative that I speak with him.  The man had a heavy India accent.  Stupid me I have had payday loans in the past but I have always paid them back. I've gotten numerous calls from other numbers threatening me with legal action and jail.  I know these are scams.  I've reported to FTC, State Attorney Office, PD and BBB.  I still keep getting them.  I've been told just to ignore them and report them as they call.
