I just got a call.  They said I had a 9 year old past due balance with Capital One.  So I asked them first for the last 4 of the SSN, they would not give it.  I asked if they looked with CapitalOne before acting like an ass.  No reply.  So I told them I had a VERY CURRENT CapitalOne BLACK Card and one for call I will call my lawyer, who I will pay with my CapitalOne card.  They hung up.  Go Figure :)

Portfollio Recovery- this is a scam they buy old depts then try to use scare tactics to get money from you. If you have an old dept you would only deal with the company themselves. NEVER GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY PERSONAL INFO OR MONEY!!!!!! Just hang up on them or if you recognize their number don't answer. This is a scam. They are calling me about a credit card dept that is past statute of limitations another words this dept is no longer valid

Unfortunately that is probably verbal assault.  Please don't give them anything to use against you!  I use an android app called Mr Number to screen these jerks.

    Captain Major
Having been getting calls all this week from this number and a multitude of others.  Was finally home to catch one of the calls.  I thought I would have a bit of fun, Tom Mabe style, with the caller by answering, "Pope Command Post."

There was stunning silence on the line for about 15 seconds.  Then the caller finally said, "Hello?"

I replied, "This is Pope Command Post.  Go ahead with your situation report."

The caller was totally stunned! "Where have I called?"

I replied, "You have reached the Pope Command Post at Pope Army Airfield."

Their reply, "This is not Joella Johnson?"

"No madame, you have reached Captain Major (sic), the duty controller in the Command Post at Pope Army Airfield.  Who is it that you wish to speak with?"

Their reply was, "We are looking to talk with a Joella Johnson."

Then I dropped the hammer on them, "Madame, are you calling this person about an overdue debt?  If so, you have just violated multiple Federal laws.  First, you have called a disinterested third party.  The fine for this act is $5000 and 5 years in a Federal prison.  Second, you have called a classified Government telephone number.  The fine for this act is $10,000 and 10 years in a Federal prison.  And since this is the 15th call this week from you folks about this person, the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) has already opened a case file on you.  As we speak they are finalizing their telephone trace on your location.  So, within the next 4 hours you can expect a Federal Marshall to be showing up at you door with an arrest warrant for you and everyone else on the premises.  Have a nice day!"

I then hung up and nearly wet myself while trying to get to the bathroom because I was laughing so hard!

I have a debt with Capital One from a $200 credit card limit when I was a teenager. The card was stolen due to my wallet being stolen. Have the paperwork from the police report and fraud companies. Portfolio Recoveries is attempting to collect $800 from me. This debt is 6 years old. If I was going to pay this, I would have 6 years ago. I get calls every other day from a new number every time. Portfolio Recoveries..... I refuse to pay!

Do what I do...Tell them i'd doing the five knuckle shuffle and ask, Would you talk dirty too me so I can shoot a load? I do it all the time in different ways. Their too [***] stupid to realize that they call the wrong numbers. People that owe depts for years and years, do they really think people keep those numbers? [***]! I have no issue with people that have those depts, hard times are among us all. I have no pity for these parasites, THAT UMMM, BUY THE DPET LIKE AN [***], only to then have to harass innocent people trying to collect a dept they brought on themselves. More laws need to be put in place. LIke a law saying, If you knowingly call someone, who's told you you're not the person their looking for, then you have to not only clear the dept, but pay that person double what it was.

No law would prevent you from telling them to go F themselves. That is not a threat, it is just telling them off.
