    Suddenlink
This is Suddenlink and while it is the number they call from to collect past due bills, it is also the number they call from to try and get you to sign up for their phone services and such. They are on an automatic dialer and a rep does not always pick up when you answer or the answering machine gets it.

We get these, too.  They let it ring about 2 or 3 times, and then it quits.  If this is Suddenlink as some of you indicate, not sure why they would call and just hang up.  We are a customer of Suddenlink, and have cable, internet and phone through them.  But, we are never late on payments, so they can't be calling for that.

I'm wondering (haven't tried it yet), if it would work to call my local Suddenlink and ask them to put a stop to it.

I just called this number and it was suddenlink and I got a hold of an agent. They said they were calling me just to see if I wanted cable. I have their internet. So, it is verified this is a suddenlink number.

This number IS Suddenlink - you can call the number & if they answer ask to have your name removed from the call list. You'll get a big speel about taking 30 days to stop the calls but if you're on the Do Not Call Registry, tell them because they are already violating it. They are supposed to abide by the Do Not Call Registry and can be reported for the violation. After I told the agent I was on the DNCR they said they would give my # to a supervisor & have the calls stopped immediately. We'll see if it actually happens.

I get calls from this number 2 or 3 times a day. No one ever says anything when I answer. This is annoying and it needs to stop.

After not answering calls from this number for three weeks, I picked up and recognized a transfer tone. I waited 30 seconds and a voice came online claiming to be with Suddenlink. I gave them a tongue lashing then called my local Suddenlink rep. After some discussion, someone further up the line told me that Suddenlink had partnered with an outside sales company to get new customers. The mistake came when they turned over their active customer database instead of their potential customer list. According to the "director" I spoke to, they had been receiving a large number of similar complaints and were trying to rectify the situation from their end. It's the closest I have ever heard a telecom company come to saying "whoops my bad" I told them that this was an unconscionable violation of my privacy (::shrug:: trying to sound mean) and that any further calls would result in my immediately ending my service through them. I requested a follow up call from the (LOCAL) office when they had some kind of disposition on their efforts.

This is a number used by a company called 'Phone Net' they call in behalf of Sudden Link offering other services. I had 3 calls today from that number. I think I have finally got to the bottom of this. Here's what you all need to do: Call Phone Net at 877-931-6756 and tell them to put you on their DNC (do not call) list. You may be advised to allow up to 30 days for the calls to stop, I don't think it will take more than a few days at most, but legally that is what they need to say. Even if you are on the National DNC list, you will need to do this anyway, because you were probably placed on this as a Sudden Link customer. I would back this up with a phone call to Sudden link at 877-305-7322 and also tell THEM to put you on THEIR Do not call list. Good luck to us :)

They called me on a Saturday afternoon trying to get me to increase my internet speed.  They would not take No for an answer.  I told the guy he needed to stop calling us.

Phoneware/Phonenet is a third party vendor. They represent several companies: Cox, Time Warner, Suddenlink, Shentel, Buckeye and one or two others. Most cable companies contract third party vendors for their promotions. Getting mad and yelling and hanging up will ensure that you get called again. All you have to do is remain calm then ask to be put on their Do Not Call list. Listen to the script they read, then they'll thank you and recite a customer service number (this is a federal law, they have to end the call with this) then it's over.
