Guy with an Indain accent ....identified himself using and American name as being from Gold Coast a company out of Phoenix, AZ.

He said I won a 500.00 gas card, and needed an expiration date off of one of my cards to give me a pin to use the card and pay for shipping. What a load of bull. After going round and round I finally hung up on him, but not before he gave me his operator number and location...none of which I wrote down.  His Caller ID comes up as "msl" which is now where near the name Gold Coast.

If you win something free is free. You shouldn't have to pay for shipping or any other trumped up fee's. And you don't need and access number for a gas card.

I just got this phone call with some foreign accented dude. It seems I'm just the lucky guy to get $300 in gas vouchers free. Only catch is I have to pay the shipping costs of $3.90 with a credit card or debit card, it could even be a prepaid gift card etc. so I played along to see where this would lead to. The salesman tells me to get a pen and write down this info on his company. He tells me the web site is www.smartshopper.com. So while he was going on I type this into my brouser and asked him where I could find out about this deal on the web site I just loader. He say, OH, we are a new company, blah blah blah but there was no info on that web site. So now he has to give me another person who will give me my verification code to activate the vouchers. When the new not so accented foreign dude gets on the phone, I asked him why the other guy couldn't have just gave me the verifacation code and he tells me that he wasn't authorized to do so. OK... So now this guy starts to go through all the BS about the gift vouchers because I am a preferred credit card user blah blah blah, and then he asks me if I will pay the $3.90 shipping fee. I say I don't know about all of this, it doesn't seem right. And he replys why? So I say to him it just seems too good to be true and that it probalby is not true, yadie yada. Well the dude finally hangs up on me after I jerked them around for 15 minutes or so. Anyone else come across this? The phone number showing on my phone from them is (818) 870 9155 give them a call a say you want some free gas

This number calls me almost daily now.  I also get calls daily from another number with similar sounding people and scams.  That number is 9098429148. (909) 842-9148

Similar Indian accented man called me from this number about the "Gold Coast" fuel card.  He said I was qualified "for a $500.00 gas card, ok?".  I said "not really" and he hung up. :)

I just got the same call.  He said he was from Gold Coast so since I'm in the phone business I looked up the 818 number and the only info I could find was the MSL thing.  The call lasted about 30 seconds then I hung up.  Some people must fall for this crap or else they'd get sick of trying.

I just got that same call, although when I said hello, no one answered then hung up. I tend to wonder if just answering indicates to them that the phone number is good and they will keep trying, or pass it along on a list to another company.  For a few weeks ago, I got the same thing with the gas card, but from another number.

Have also received calls from 818-870-9155 as well as 909-842-9148 -> have answered and they hang up.  Isn't there some kind of "watch dog" group of sorts these #'s can be turned over to?  Personally, I am going to pursue and send this link so they can see detailed abuse.

Indian gentleman $300 giftcard. I was passed onto a third Indian still requesting verification information from them. They refused to give it to me. They said that it was from KMartWalmart&BestBuy group. They knew my husband's name, my name, our address, zip & phone number obviously. Charge was $3.90, all they wanted was my 16 digit meaningless number off my Mastercard or Visa or Discover Card.

Help.............................  He finally hung up after finding out I was on the internet checking out this site.

I had almost the exact same expereince.  It started with a heavily accented Indian man who wanted to give me a $300 gas card - just because "my number was chosen."  After I challenged him about a likely scam and how I was not going to buy anything, he continued to insist that this was all free and I wouldn't be asked to pay for or sign up for anything.  He tried to reassure me by giving me his name and employee identification number.  Then he passed me on to a different man, again with a moderately heavy accent.  The second man was rude from almost the beginning.  He started by asking only for the expiration date of any of my credit cards.  But then he tried to get the credit card number by stating that the gift card had to be tied to an existing valid credit card.  Of course it didn't matter which card, just as long as it was a valid credit card.  I told him that there was no way I would give my entire credit card number to anyone who called me on the phone.  At this point he interupted me multiple times to tell me how I "just didn't get it."  That was the end of the conversation as I hung up on him.  I doesn't surprise me that this has happened to many others, but I certainly wish there was an easier way to track down and prosecute these fools.  Most likely, they are calling from India through an VoIP line that is routed through these dummy lines in the U.S.  By the way I was called by the (909) 842-9148 number.  My caller ID said it was TN REMOVAL LIST.

I got a call from an Indian dude from "gold coast" who said my number was randomly chosen to receive a 300 dollar gift card, i would just have to pay shipping,WTF if they can give away 300 dollar cards, why cant they pay for shipping, anyway he asked me for my expatriation date and card number, so i refused saying i didn't want to be scammed, but he kept trying to reassure me that no charges would be made until i received the package and it was just the shipping and that they couldn't use the card number for transactions because they didn't have the security code on the back, i don't know about you but i have made plenty of transactions without that code, so i told him i wasn't going to give it to him and this went on for about 10 minutes until i finally hung up, then he called back, if its a gift, why would they be so desperate for us to accept it?

Received call from 909-842-9148 yesterday.  Same story, when they asked for my
credit card number told them to forget it.  Got a call this morning, told
him I was not interested and that I told them no yesterday.  He said it couldn't be because this was the first call.  I let him talk just to see where it would lead.  He kept asking for credit card, I got tired, hung up.  He called be back on the 909 number and asked why I hung up.  Talked to him again.
His name is John, (Indian sounding man) he gave me to Mark (another foreign person).  Got tired and told them to call me back as I had to go to work.
Both of these person are very rude.  They used both phone numbers on me today

Same thing happened to me about 30 minutes ago.  A gentleman with an Indian accent said I won a a$300.00 Gold Coast gift card but I had to pay $3.90 with a credit card.  I offered to pay cash but he would not accept it.  The scary thing is that he knew my husbands name and where we lived.  I would like to repot this further but I am not sure where to to this.

I've been called 3x by this person in the last week. I never picked up the phone but from what it sounds like it is the same scam as the number they usually call me from which is 909-842-9148. With that number its the same bull of how i won a free gas card worth $300.
