Someone keeps calling me claiming they are from the IRS and I am being sued.  I call back and no one answers.

Said they're from the IRS and they're suing me. Said to call back.
Right. I'll get right on it.

It's a scam. I get these phone calls constantly between my cell and home phone. IRS would never call. They do all correspondence by mail. Now I just ignore calls that don't show up with a familiar name. Annoying.

Says they are IRS and a law suit has been filed against me.  Don't believe it for one second!  BS/Scam.  Why can't these calls be stopped???

I got a call from this number saying that the IRS was filing a lawsuit against me. I can't call the number back. Not sure what to believe here...

Received this same message on phone.  I laughed out loud.  The text of the call is plain silly, but I can understand some folks becoming alarmed.  First, the agency is the Internal Revenue Service - not "Services" as the caller stated.  There were other amusing grammatical errors.   IF the IRS were to file an action against you, it would need to follow the proper federal court rules, or its suit would get tossed out by the Judge.  IRS attorneys are not going to blow a suit on a technicality.  Way oversimplifying, and  I won't go through every excruciating detail, but you would be formally served with a copy of the actual suit filed in the court.  You would never be asked to call a number to find out what the law suit was about.  AND since almost all of us are run-of-the-mill average taxpayers, IF the IRS were to file an action against you,  it would most likely be AFTER putting you through an audit(s) and those are performed either through the mail or in-person.
