I received an email claiming to be from Microsoft and that the "key" to my programs has expired. All my computer functions will no longer work.
I telephoned the number 844-308-6816 and they claimed to be Microsoft IT Department. I told them I was going to report them. They hung up.

sounded like a robo-call telling me my Microsoft key had expired and my computer will no longer work. Pure B.S. but I did not call the number to find out their true intent.

I received 7 calls in one day with messages to call this number regarding my Microsoft license.  When I called it, I asked repeatedly what it was about-I was told that my Microsoft license was expiring and parts of my system were being shut down, which would ultimately prevent me from logging into my computer.  I followed this person's instructions to the point that he was transferring me to his "supervisor" to complete the update process.  I asked multiple times what the end result was supposed to be, and whether or not it was a sales call.  I was told repeatedly it was to remove things that hackers had gotten from my computer, and it was not a sales call.  The supervisor came on the line, and then told me that he had control of my computer, and it would cost $249.00 to "fix the problems."  He also said that if I hung up, or attempted to shut down my computer, I would not be able to log back into my computer.  He hung up on me when I told him what he could do with it.  I was able to log back into my computer, but am going to restore it to an earlier date when I get home.

    It's a SCAM, people!
Don't give those people any information. This guy has been calling me for several years. He claims my computer has a virus in one call, then tells me some programs are installed improperly in another, then his latest BS is my license key has expired. These people do not work for Microsoft. They just want your money. I called him back today and cussed him out royally. Now hes calling me every hour, but I have their numbers on call block. 844-308-6815 and 844-308-6816.

Microsoft product license keys never expire once activated. They only have an expiration date if not activated. The caller is a scammer.

I keep getting this call at lest 5 times a day, I called the number back and the person stated that they do not call people.  This is BS, do not give them access to your computer or pay them anything it is a scam, they are trying to access your computer to gain access to your personal information.  I did not give them anything.  Not sure how to get them to stop calling my number since it is unlisted.

No, they don't want access to your computer. They want access to your money. That is whatever a chump is willing to pay a scam-artist to fix a problem that doesn't exist in the first place. Like a previous poster accurately stated .... Microsoft license keys don't expire once activated.

Same robocalls- received at least 10 today. Definite scam- don't give any info. We told them 2 times so far to remove our number from their list and if they continue we will be reporting to Attorney General.

Today I received the same robotic call and message 3 times.  I just listened waiting for a chance to ask them the question:  "Would your mother be proud of what you are doing?"  Except for Muslims who say "yes" they usually hang up and don't call back.

Yes, it is a phishing scam, keep your $$ in your pocket & be tight-lipped w/ your personal info! Although, did get a chuckle listening to the voicemail msg the IVR left.  It was same msg as above w/ the 'Microsoft license key expiring' thing. The funniest part was, "call Backus"! Lol. Whatever language they used to load msg to IVR, it doesn't grammatically translate well into English and instead of call us back at... It was, 'all back us'! 😁

My parents received three calls in one hour on 12/21/2016 saying the same thing about Microsoft computer software licenses had expired. They said to call them back on 844-308-6816. But once you call them, you're probably linked into their system. Seems best not to call them back at all.  Even if you call from a "blocked" phone number, they still know your telephone number if it is a real 800 number. They should be jailed.
