This number was showing on pop-up, or more acurately a forced Firefox Tab that opened on our computer today (July 27) for the first time.  The window said,

"Attention: SHAW Communications Customer
READ BEFORE CONTINUING
It appears that your Safari and Safari may lack important updates and have Pop ads enabled which puts passwords and data at risk.
PLEASE FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS:
Before you use your computer, it is strongly advised to call on 1-844-329-3153 now for IMMEDIATE PC SCAN."

It's a scammer looking for personal info - it originated from the web address asmm6697.biz, and has now sent a half dozen other, similarly worded pop-ups with more phone numbers to "call immediately!"

Yeah right, sorry asmm6697 - won't be ringing you up, instead running a virus cleaner as we type...

Same thing just happened to my mother. Unfortunately she called the number and we are now trying to find out what damage if any has been done.

How do I get rid of this pop-up

I already have the virus on my lap top. Have run Panda anti=virus and it doesn't remove it. Not sure where I pick it up.(virus)  Jim

go to www.malwarebytes.org and down load the free version. it will get rid of it. you also need to rest your browser. IE Chrome or firefox. It adds itself to your browser.

Be aware. The Malwarebytes is the cone behiind all these spywares virus so people have to buy their products!!!

Malwarebytes alone did not work.  What does "rest your browser" mean?

Malwarebyte is useless! I paid them and it doesn't work and it has slow down my computer

What are the other phone numbers that appear?  I'm trying to get through to that 844 number to harass them, but it seems they're now blocking my calls.

i called and didnt have the $99.99 they wanted to FIX my computer and now its not working at all . All i wanted was to get rid of pop ups other than that my computer worked.I had it wiped and had windows 8.1 downloaded and its still not working correctly.

DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER.If you dont have $99.99 to pay them to repair your computer they will shut it down
