We got a pop-up on our computer that says we might have some sort of virus and lists all sorts of possible problems that could happen. It then gives this phone # to call to get the computer inspected, for a price. IT'S A SCAM.

They try to charge me $499.9 to fix the problem whe i turn my laptop I get an alarm and give me a window to call the number

Got a pop up message that my computer was infected. Wanted to sell me protection ranging from $99 to $249. I did not take it. Called my provider {AT&T} and they took care of the virus for me.

Had a pop up on my computer. Someone called me by the number 1-844-515-3776 and tried taking over my computer to "fix" it.

A message appeared on my computer saying I need to call the above number and not to shut down. Then they called me. Wanted control of my computer and I hung up. But I can't get rid of the message.

Have you tried clearing your temporary internet cache. Often these are just flash messages and when you clear your temp files they disappear.

Got a message on my computer telling me i had a virus.  Not thinking i called the number no one answered.   They immediately called me back.   I have him control of my computer.   What can i do?

Nearly forked out $....feel foolish as I let the techie (who was very polite) take control of my computer( he did not ask permission to do so).

This is definitely a very scary  scam.  My computer popped up a BSOD error and said my IP addressed had been blocked because my Windows Defender had crashed....it said DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR COMPUTER OR YOUR SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK AGAIN.....ok so scared....stupidly called the number and got a boiler room tech....very loud noise...that should have been the first clue.  After allowing him to get into my computer he bounced all around showing me all kinds of problems (right)...then tried to push $199-499 software/service to fix the whole problem....told him no and he said he would temporarily fix for 5 days but it would come back and I would loose everything so he will call in 5 days to get paid....NOT.  I had Norton run a full scan and clean-up again and then uninstalled some software that this guy actually put on my computer....I have a call into Microsoft techs now.  DON'T BE NAIVE as I was....hang up, restart your computer....guaranteed it will start.  I was browsing the news when this happened....don't know how they are able to get this type of pop-up to work...but it is very very scary.

Had a man come by my house today with a small piece of paper with this number on it. It looks official but I am still very skeptical. It says Reactivate and enjoy using your service now with payment call 844 515 7132 toll free credit card / check by phone or pay the field technician by CASH CHECK or money order (Really... pay the field tech??? Sounds like a scam to me. I never pay a field tech for [***], I always pay online. He is either a scam or a debt collector pretending to be with time warner. He had a time warner shirt on too when he was here.) He gave me his number which is Tony - 910 - 899 - 6581

How much did it cost for norton to fix it?

I got a call from this number stating that I had viruses on my computer.  He remote accessed my computer and tried to get me to purchase his product for over $300.00.  This person called me back twice after I hung up on him.  DO NOT ANSWER!!  SCAMMERS!!!

Just got a call from these people. They are very savy. I knew something was wrong when he was insistent is asking me to pay for  money. My only mistake was to give him access to my computer. Be aware.
