Received A Call From 855-230-2486 On My Cell. Caller Id Showed "RESTRICTED" So, I Didn't Answer. They Left A Voice Mail Claiming To Be Michelle Grand Or Grant From The State Of Texas Legal Department On Behalf Of Potter, Scott And Associates & They Were Looking For My Ex Brother In Law Concerning The 3 Complaints Filed Naming Him As The Defendant. They Provided A Case Number And A Phone Number To Call Them Back, Which I Did. I Was Directed To A Mr. Robert Ross, Phone Number 214-666-5182, Who Informed Me That I Was Listed As A Co-Payer/Co-Signer For An Online Loan Dated June 14, 2012, Made In My Ex Brother In Law's Name. He Actually Had My DOB And My Social Security Number! I Live In Wyoming, Not In Texas And I Have Been Divorced For 5 Years. This Robert Ross Told Me I Could Pay A 'Victim Restitution Fee' Of $236.00 To Remove My Name From The Loan And Give Me Legal Absolution From This Debt. Yeah Right, Jack-Wagon, I'm Not Falling For It! I Am Not Legally Responsible For This So-Called Debt, Nor Do I Believe There Is Such A Debt With My Name Associated To It!! He Was Absolutely Shocked When I Informed Him That I Was Filing Complaints With The FBI, Wyoming Attorney General, Texas Attorney General, And The Better Business Bureau. SCAM Using Numbers 855-230-2486 AND 214-666-5182 ALSO USING THE NAME "POTTER, SCOTT AND ASSOCIATES".

Had a screen pop up on my mac with note about a virus attack detected and call 855 230 2486. Called and they were surprised. Wanted to know where I got this number. I hung up.

Had a screen pop up on my mac with a note about a virus attack detected and call 855-230-2486. Called and they said yes, if you will allow me access to your computer, I will fix. They told us what to do, as we were waiting to connect. A message popped up on our PC stating that they were using a trial version of the program. I told my husband, why the heck would Microsoft use a trial program of anything. We asked the Indian guy the same thing. He said, oh it doesn't matter click ok. We said no, we were researching the number to see if they were microsoft. We never granted him access. Meanwhile, in the backgound we heard another person on the phone saying yes, tell me your password.... they connected us to the "Superviser" and we said how do we know you are microsoft. He became beligerant and said how can I prove this? Then he told us we would have to go buy a new computer and hung up on us!!! We restarted the PC, and haven't had any trouble.  

Never call these numbers. Never click on a Warning pop up message. Never click on an in-email link. Always call direct phone numbers to companies and sources using legitimate means you can trust like the Yellow Pages. Always go to actual authentic Websites by typing in their address or link. Don't ever let yourself be redirected there from another link or a pop up. These people know how to fake looking legit. But they are tech thieves trying to keep Remote Access to your computer to hijack all your personal info and use it for Identity Theft. They are a criminal ring. Immediately close (and if it won't close do a Force Close) all your windows, clear Browser History, Cache, Cookies, etc. Turn off your computer completely. Total shut down, NOT a shut and restart. Let it set for 3-5 minutes to clear any Auto Memory. Turn it back on. Let it reboot. The problem should be gone. Immediately run your Virus and Malware scanner. Permanently delete any found after it's been isolated. Repeat total computer shut down and reboot. Then change every password to every social, financial, shopping, email and other accounts. Warn your bank and credit card companies (including PayPal), to look out for any signs of fraudulent activity. Good luck.
