They called and asked for my wife. They said she had applied for a credit card.  She had not. I called the lady a liar. Then I hung up. Another web site tells me this number is from Chase credit cards.

Actually...  if they called your wife and your wife doesn’t have an account with them there is a chance she is a victim of a fraud application, which means there is someone out there using her name to apply for credit cards to ruin her good name.  Your wife is best to Google Chase Canada and call the number on the web page, request to speak to the Fraud Department to confirm.  They do not call to solicit or sign up for memberships. If they call it means there IS an account that they are following up on, and sue to privacy laws they can not discuss this with anyone else that your wife.

It's Chase credit report. After my ex-husband's fraudulent activities on my credit, I called the credit bureau to obtain an alert. Anytime I try to apply for something, an alert comes on and the company's credit department calls me to ensure that I am the one making this application and not a fraudulent user...

Be aware that it is now possible to program a phone number into a fax maxchine that will show up on your Caller Display. It may be a Chase Bank number but a liar remains a liar. NEVER GIVE PERSONNAL/FINANCIAL INFO OVER THE PHONE.

Yes it is possible this is third party of Fraud investigation department working for any bank and need to verify to make sure she apply for credit card, or her credit card may be compromised.
best tip is, when you receive any call from any financial institutions, you can tell them that you will call them back shortly and find the number on their official website and call them back to make sure this is not fraud. and never call back on their given number.

Received several calls within a minute from this number. Finally picked up and it was Chase on behalf of my Amazon credit card. They detected a suspicious transaction on my card and wanted to verify this. Thankfully, it wasn't a purchase I made so they were able to reverse the charges and issue me a new card.

So basically, if you happen to own a card issued by Chase and you get several calls from this number, it may be a good idea to pick up.

The caller ID displayed Scotiabank. Didn't pick up because I have never dealt with them. The Chase Amazon card was discontinued on March 15, 2018, and if you had one, communications with Chase is by secure email on their site. On the other hand, the the Canadian JP Morgan Chase credit card is now owned by Scotiabank.

Have never had either an Amazon or a Chase credit card, yet received several calls from this number.  Messages from all different folks, turns out it was the Fraud Investigation folks for Scotia Bank.

They called and left a voicemail, they knew my name. They claimed Fraud Investigation from Scotiabank.
Contacted Scotiabank TWICE, once with secure email from bank website and the other chat function.
Both declared this number is not associated with Scotiabank.
This means THIS IS A SCAM!!!
Please note, ANYONE can write a note to this website and I believe SCAMMERS are writing their notes declaring this number is legit but this is another dirty game they are playing.
READ the notes that claim this is valid and you can still tell its phony review.
NEVER call back the phone# they give to you, only call the phone# on the back of your Credit Card.

Called and caller ID said Scotiabank. They knew my name and the last 4 digits of my debit and were calling with regards to a credit application the first thing they asked for were the last three digits on the back of my debit. This set alarm bells off as typically banks will use things like address or DOB to confirm ID before your banking information. hung up straight away
