Caller with an Indian accent pretends to be calling from "PC Tracker" on behalf of Microsoft.  Armed with your phone number and address (from somewhere), he attempts to persuade you to enter some commands allowing him access to your computer by having you look at Microsoft Event Viewer and scaring you about the messages in there.  Usual claim is that this company has "detected" that your computer is full of viruses.  If you fall for this, expect to have viruses installed on your computer.  Then he will demand payment for his "services."  This is actually a social engineering fraud rather than telemarketing, but the techniques are similar.

I received a call today from a person with an accent that I could not understand. I told her to have someone who "speaks American" call me. A moment later, I received a call from another person with the same accent, though I could understand her. She told me my computer was "full of viruses" and that I should turn it on and they would "fix" it for me. I told her that my son-in-law was an engineer and knew my computer and I didn't need her help. She insisted. I asked for her name...didn't get it...phone number and it was 855-383-2473. She said they were "PCTRACKER". At least that is what I thought she said. The number was clear. I asked if they fixed my computer, how much would it cost. She said...$150.00. I said, I will chat with my son-in-law and if he thinks I need this, I will call you back. She was NOT happy. Then I came and looked up the number. Thanks for this site. Hope it keeps others from falling for their junk. BTW, she said the second time that she was from Texas. Yeah, sure.

Received a call from a man with Indian accept saying that our computer was illegally downloading and to hit the key with the 4 flags (command key) and the letter R.  I believe it to be a hoax as he gave me the phone number 855 383 2473 as his number to call back and said his web site is www.pctrackers.com.  Indicated he is the main server for our computer.  I told him we would call back and put phone number in google and got this blog.

This number called several times in a row, coming up as "Toll Free Call" on my Caller ID.  When I finally picked up, it was a guy with an Indian accent claiming that my mom's computer had been blacklisted for making illegal internet downloads.  He claimed he was with Windows and finally hung up when I didn't say anything.  An obvious scam, but he had a bit of an attitude and scolded me for preemptively telling him to take me off his call list before even asking what company he was with.

I was downloading files that were bad for my computer.  I asked if he was from  
comcast.  He didn't answer and hung up called back two more times and I didn't
answer the phone.  He knew my first name, which is in the telephone book.  My
caller id showed the 8553832473 number.   An obvious scammer......

Keep getting calls from this number but never leave a message.

Got a call from a guy today, saying he was with Microsoft Windows 7 maintenance department. Said they were receiving error messages from my computer, and then asked with i was on my computer so they could fix it for me. So i told him do not call me ever again, and he kept saying i will call later today or tomorrow ... i hung up. The caller id showed:  800 service   855-383-2473.

I called Microsoft customer service and they told me they are aware of the scammers doing this overseas, and they are trying to do something about it.

Same thing happened to me.  I told the oriental girl that I had Geek Squad and I'd have them look at it.  She said how much do you pay for Geek Squad and I said what does that have to do with anything give me your phone number and I'll have them call you and she hung up. Knew it was something bad, thanks everyone!

They call and wait to hear my voice and hang up on me.

Why would we allow these scam to exist in America????  We should have an Watch Dog organization that go after these crooks and put them behind bars.  Seniors and low educated people are vulenarable.  And of course the government or rich people don't care.  

Same dude, Indian accent, same as below, called my wifes cell phone and tryed to convince her that she was downloading illlegal content from Microsoft that may be putting her at risk.  My wife, who won't take any crap from anyone, told the dude "my husband will check into it and take care of it".  Indian dude replied very forcefully "how the hell is your husdband going to do that?"  This is obvioulsy a scammer attmepting to access your personal computer and therefore, all of your files and maybe even programs.  Dangerous and law enforcement should look into this.  It can't be legal...

I just got off the phone with this scam.
First they called and waited until I said hello and then they hung up.
When I don't recognize a number I usually wait before I say hello.
They called me back within two minutes and started by asking if I was the person
that paid for this phone. What parts I could understand were that they had detected my computer downloading massive files that contained viruses. He never told me which computer which is interesting since I just bought two different computers (dell) and have only upgraded one to windows 8.
I hung up when there were too many variables in his script.

I actually hope they call back, I will be ready for them.

They just called and offered me an amazing deal to clean my computer. Now it is super fast, i dont understand why people are complaining they just want to help

These jerks wake me up every morning at 5 am (I live in CA, but since I used to live in NY and still have a NY area code, they must think they're calling me at 8am).  I've tried to called them but it just says "invalid selection, goodbye."  I think they "fix" PCs and I have a Mac so it's truly non-sensical, but nothing is as annoying as the fact that I'm exhausted bc I have a new baby and they wake me up every night/morning. How can I stop this?
