This is the reverse-911 system for San Jose, California (and likely other locations as well).  It is a legitimate call...in this case an Amber Alert.  When I returned the call, it gives a list of previous alerts that you can plan back as well as the current one.

This number keeps on calling me.  I have no idea who it is and it is scaring me.

It is indeed the SJPD reverse 911 call in the San Jose area.  Pls keep in mind toll free numbers CAN be used only locally and MAY be a different caller in annother geographic area.

The system seems like a go Idea ! But they should update Fix it so the callerid would ID this as a Amber Alert. We don't answer usually when there is no Caller ID....

Yep.  It called me just now with a Heat Advisory for the Santa Clara Valley.

At 4:05 pm the phone rang 3 times and stopped.

What did the message say? I keep trying to call back and get stuck in a loop without being able to listen to the message.

I got a call at MIDNIGHT that really scared me.  They should stop calling after 10:00 PM

We got the call at 12:34am also.  I like the idea of the system, but I can't get calls that late.  The whole family was awake for hours :-(

If so, then why are we receiving calls as we live in Canada?  It must be a spoofed number.  We've blocked the number.

I live in a very small town in Texas. This number, just today, called me 6 different times in rapid succession. I do not answer calls from unavailable or “toll free”. The sixth time I picked it up long enough to tell them to take my name and number off their list.
