It's a call from Wellmark BlueCross/Blue Shield

I believe they are identity theft they didn't go through all the secure questions that well mark blue shield customer service did and it sounded like a machine that was supposed to be a person

I received a call from this number. A woman with an accent said she was from Wellmark and wanted to speak to the parents of my son. I would not confirm my son's date of birth unless she told me what it was regarding first, and she said she could not say without the DOB. I called Wellmark customer service and they said that was not a number for them or any of their contractors and they had no notation for anyone needing to call me.

This is NOT Wellmark. Definitely a scam.

I just got a call from this number. The guy wanted to confirm my date of birth and started by telling me my year, which was wrong, so I hung up. Definitely felt like a scam.

Just got a call from this number, woman with a thick accent, identifying herself as someone from Wellmark/BCBS.. I don't actually recall if she gave me her name. She said they need to confirm details with me and that they had my birth year and just need my birth month and date. I asked what this call was regarding and she said she wasn't able to disclose that without confirming my identity and it felt really fishy so I ended the call. Googled the number and found this result. Scammers suck!

Caller claimed she was from Wellmark Blue Cross Blue Shield and asked to speak to the parent of my 16 year old daughter.  She asked me to give my daughters day and month of her birthdate.  I declined and asked the caller what this was in regards to.  She said she couldn't give me more info until I verified, only that it wasn't in regard to benefits.  I said I wasn't comfortable giving out that information.  She said she understood and gave me another number to call back at a later time (855-484-9160).  I called that number and it answered as a Wellmark number and to hold for operator.  I know DARN sure after wanting to get in touch for years with Wellmark on the weekend (a whole other story!) that their operators aren't there on Saturday.  Would like to know who REALLY called me.  

This is a Wellmark BCBS call. They ask for DOB so as not to release PHI to wrong person but if you press they will give you the year so you know they have it and are just confirming. They are not calling about benefits or claims but usually about a new service or program they are offering for free that may be beneficial. Hope this helps!

this is a engagement call for wellmark - and we are legitimate the reason as the previous message stated that we ask for confirmation of the month and day of members birth is to verify that wer not giving out any health info to someone other then the member , and the reply to all these other people stated that we are a scam and that wellmark wont confirm that we work for them - is not true we do and are calling for wellmark we give the utmost respect when we are calling members - thank you

mam who really called you is a call engaged by wellmark blue cross blue shield , we work for them and the name of our company is carenet healthcare in san antonio texas perfectly legitimate - wer between the doctors members and insurance company (the go between ) i guess you could say but we are not telemarketers whatsoever -thank you

Even if you are legitimate, I will not provide you with my son's private information. Sorry.  Mail the information to me if you really want me to have it.

I think this is a scam. We are Wellmark customers and occasionally get a call of this nature but never engage with these (probably) crooks. Wellmark had better ways to contact me if necessary. I am cautious not to give info to a stranger, and this call certainly seems like a scam.
