    Apparently, these guys are criminals:

    https://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/8557208900

They call here threatening someone that no one here has ever heard of with posting their 'account information' on a fb page and, according to 'Chris' in the above link, they call there pretending to be a doctor's office.

I wouldn't give these bozos the time of day.  If they have legitimate business with you, they'll be able to supply you with something in writing, delivered to you via the USPS.

I have been getting calls from these people for well over a year and, more recently, several calls per day, even on weekends. I did a simple Google Search and learned that the party being named was killed in a car accident and is completely unknown to me. When I attempt to answer the calls I get only a long recorded message and I'm unable to speak to a human.

My number is on the National Do Not Call Registry which has been absolutely no protection to me. I presume that Debt Collectors are exempt. What should I do? I am a Disabled American Veteran and I consider it to be harassment.

    Thank you.

    Not biting
This number appeared in a phishing email about student loans, addressed to someone I never heard of. Totally bogus. It claims to be from nelnet.com (legitimate), but directs you to call to this phone number.

I have been avoiding their calls for weeks but I just called and they gave me a deferment.  These guys only call when you dont make your student loan payments.  If you are behind and cant make payments they have ways to help.  I didnt even have to make any payments!  Very cool and great customer service-Highly recommend!!

Student loans???  then why did they just call my office????? and they left no message.  If they were legit, they would have left a message or requested a call back.

Nel Net is legit. Not sure if this phone number belongs to them. But Nel Net has helped me tremendously and is more trustworthy than the US Dept. of Education. I gave them my bank acc I go to take payments and they kept the agreement and did not rip me off. FYI

I looked in Netnet's email and their number is 888.486.4722. I am not sure who these people are leaving me a message to check my email, Facebook and email.

However, I did find a law firm online suing them in result of this google search.

    Don't Trust It
I once had student loans with Nelnet - they were all paid off and consolidated with a different company and are current. www.nslds.ed.gov is a federal website you can check the status of all your federal student loans & grants.  Mine are all consolidated with one company - not Nelnet!  The federally operated site shows that I am not behind in one payment so I would not trust whomever is calling.  This company apparently has some sort of access to Nelnet's old debts.  Sure they may be taking out the agreed upon amount with you but is it really being applied to your "student loans"?  To the poster that said she did not have to pay anything, that sounds fishy enough.  The government wants their money.

This is certainly a scam number. They have been texting my husband claiming to be Nelnet, and claiming to offer a 6-month loan deferment. We have no Nelnet loans and never have. There's no reason that the real Nelnet would have his cell phone number.

They left a message that said "This is an important message for(don't leave a name), Nelmet has assistance available to help you. Please check your email, text messages, and facebook- or call us at 855-720-8905. Our customer service associates are available to assist you 24 hours a day 7 days a week.Again our number is 855-720-8905(funny how the number is completely different than the one they called with)"
The message ended with "We're here to help.", which was the part that really creeped me out. I researched the number bringing me here, than i got really curious and called back the numder this site is about. Is an education center really called Nelmet and they really do take student loans and all that stuff. They just have a kinda creepy message. So whoever is leaving all the hype about them being criminals robbing money its not true. Maybe someone may be intercepting their number or some employee is abusing the buissness, who knows. But those of you who are reporting to the internet about money being stolen need to go to professionals and then maybe an issue will be resolved.

This is NelNet, the payment processing company for US Dept of Education student loans. They are legit. If they're calling you, then you're likely behind on your student loan payments. Do yourself a favor - answer their call and do what you can to make payment arrangements. Unlike most numbers I look up on here, this one is legitimate.

Then maybe you should answer their call and tell them that instead of bitching to everyone else about it.

Got a text from an unknown number and this is what is said:

Your Nelnet loans hit default status in 5 days. Reply YES to postpone payments for 12 mos due to hardship but intend to repay. (855) 720-8905. Reply STOP to OptOut - Weird cause I do not have any loans, I think it's a scam to get me to promise to pay something I do not owe. Maybe a legal binding thing after 12months or want to get my personal banking information... scam alert

This is a scam. I'm getting the same text, I don't even have a nel net loan and I am current and up-to-date on  everything else. Besides, a company would not send random texts telling me I am going to default on loan
