Got a call from this number on my cell telling me that there was were fraudulent charges on my Master World card and I needed to call them.  I don't have a master world card.

Same here- and it asks for the card # if you return the call....

Same call but mine said there was a temporary hold on my Barclay card and that I should call to confirm charges. I don't have one.

I work for Barclay's. This number (there have been several) is a phishing scam. One important thing to know, your bank or credit card company would NEVER call you and ask for your account #. We already have it. You may be asked YOUR security questions to verify that you are the real account holder. Also, if a call sounds even a little suspicious, hang up and call your bank at a number that you know is a good number (ie. the number on the back of your card or bank / credit card statement).

Ditto. As soon as they asked for the card # I got suspicious and hung up.

This one is dangerous. The call is _very_ professional without the typical clues of a generic department name or mangled English. They might be able to scam more than the usual fraction of callees.

My mother and I both received a call.  They left a message about our Barclay and MasterCard account.  Fortunately I was there when she checked the messages!  I looked up the number and found what I suspected-a scam.
