We were notified that scammers have been calling utility customers in Colorado Springs and advising them that if they don't make an immediate payment through a pre-paid debit card, their services will be disconnected.  The scammers were asking Customers to purchase a pre-paid debit card and provide the number back to them.  They were calling from (858) 768-9055 and identifying themselves as Eddie Williams, Randy, and Stanley Wall.  This is a very common utilities scam and no utility company would ever demand this type of payment.  When in doubt about a call or demand, hang up and call the Customer Service Center for your particular Utility Company and confirm the legitimacy of the call before ever purchasing/providing a pre-paid debit card #."

A tenant of ours, a restaurant, called to inform us that they had received a call from an Eddie Williams (858) 768-9055 and that they had been told that their utilities would be turned off immediately due to a delinquent account, if they did not remit a payment oveer the tel.  It sounded suspicious since we pay the utilities for our tenant and I called CSU (Colorado Springs Utilities) right away, who verified that the account was in good standing which was confirmed. CSU collected information to do a follow up.  This Eddie William proceeded then to call us directly and I confronted him and he got off the telephone very quickly.  He sounded very professional and very curtuous; a smooth operator, literally.  He did not have the utilities account number handy; really?
Beware!  

Providence, RI. Received call today from Eddie Williams at my business demanding immediate payment on our National Grid account. He was very insistent that they had payment today and informed me that if payment was not received today my utilities would be shutoff.  I called National Grid who confirmed that it was a scam.
