Calls at least every 2 or 3 days, never leaves a message, Why must we be subjected to these unwanted calls?

Caller stated that he was with the Newark Police PD benevolent fund,  solicited funds in order to purchase safety gear for law enforcement personnel in the streets, etc......asked caller how he obtain my telephone number...after a brief moment of silence, he  responded by stating that there was no definitive way in which he could ascertain how the number was submitted for contact...etc...This was a classic money scam with an over the top "coptalk" like demeanor caller.

This person called and addressed me with my family name and then hung up. I called the number several times but the phone was off the hook.  Very strange.  If I receive more calls from this person, I will report this matter to the authorities.
