- Sue| 3 repliesWe don't answer "unavailable" or "866" numbers....now I know why. This number calls every day, all hours of the day & night. Now I think I'll pick up & hang up on them before they can speak! As far as a collection agency calling us, we don't owe any money to anyone....we had MCI about 10 years ago & received a collection letter 8 years later, so that may be it. But 10 years? I don't even remember owing them anything - besides the fact that they went out of business 9 years ago! What kind of recourse do we have to stop these annoying calls that wake us up first thing in the morning? Does anyone know?
- KeithBeen getting calls from the idiots from this RPM (Sprints leg breakers) for some time now for a defunk Sprint account that we gave up long ago! They do call at all hours and then when you don't pick it up they don't leave a message. I however called them back this evening and asked who they were and what they did and was asked what do I do and they hung up on me. INteresting they have been in such a damn fuss to get ahold of me then they don't want to talk to me! Weird. Called back again and the woman asked for my wife then when I told her she wasn't home wanted to know who I was. After telling them they didn't need to know that they told me they would call back. I think I can wear them down! Hello is "X" there? No but I am and oh, BTW what are you wearing would be a cheeky response I think.

- CHP866-212-7408. Called about a cell phone that was "delivered" to me that I was suppose to return in 30 days if I did not want it. They addressed me by my maiden name and had an address that I lived at 6 years ago. Of course I never received such an item since I don't live at the address listed for me. Said I owed them 79.60. They said I could dispute it by writing to PO Box 768
Bothell, WA 98041...... They wanted me to give them my new address, but I didn't. - DavidWikipedia "Fair Collections Practices Act"

From Wikipedia
The Act prohibits certain types of "abusive and deceptive" conduct when attempting to collect debts, including the following:
* Hours for phone contact: contacting consumers by telephone outside of the hours of 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. local time[2]
* Contact after being asked to stop: contacting consumers in any way (other than litigation) after receiving written notice that said consumer wishes no further contact or refuses to pay the alleged debt, with certain exceptions, including advising that collection efforts are being terminated or that the collector intends to file a lawsuit or pursue other remedies where permitted[3] - Jasmine RodriguezThe person called and tried to get stupid with me. He asked if I was a spouse to the person he was calling and I said no and he said his wife as if I did not understand him the first time. Very rude and I do not appreciate anyone calling my house with this attitude.

- RickyThey do not leave messages. When I do answer, they hang up. I called them but the person was only interested in me giving her my phone number. I did not give number and hung up.
- JohnCalled last week and hung up, I called back put on hold and automated for approx 15-20 and it stated my call was important and will be answered in 2 minutes and kept ringing. I was advise it was wrong number and looking for someome else and was assured number woul be taken off system within 24 hours. I received a call today 12/12/07 and they hung up I called back and got put on hold for the CSR would answer and states RPM and name and please hold I did this little stunt several times spoke with four different people who put me on hold. I finally got to speak with a 5th person and ask for a supervisor. I got put on hold. They stated my number was all over there screen and that several people have been using my number and could not pull up my supposed account. They assured me they will take my number off again. This is a call to Massachusetts and it is law that more than two calls to your home and once the person who is calling is notified of the unwanted calls they should cease. After that call telephone company and go to Police fill out report for harrasing phone calls and then give Telephone company Incident Number and they will follow up and go after the number they will give you a number I think *57 and this tracks the number for phone company the phone company will notify Police department of findings. This information should be in your local telephone book. I spoke with Carlos, Ryan, Peter and Tom. Then Peter again and was place on hold waiting for a supervisor named Cas there is only one supervisor on floor, call was calling from Washington State. RPM

- I owe who?I have received several calls from 18662127408, when I do call they ask if they can speak to, "my maiden name", then when I ask what it is in regards to they expalin that it is an old revolving credit account, that was paid off over 8 years ago. They have called more than 10 times this month, stating I still owe the paid off amount.
I have called the store services them selves, and tellt hem about the calls everytime I get one. they stated they never sold their debt's to collectors and handle them themselves...they still have proof of my account being paid, so when they call I do everyting I can to confuse them. I give them wrong details, tell them I have died, have a new job that will nto allow me to give out my personal details...etc.- Caller: RPM

- Chriswww.receivablesperformance.com/inside.php?pg=contact
This link gives e-mail and snail-mail contact info for Recievables Performance Management ( RPM ). I used this page to e-mail them and tell them they had my phone number and the person they were looking for mixed up. If this don't work my next step will be filing harassment with the Arkansas Attorney General's Office- Consumer Protection Division. This has worked for me many times. I'm sure every state has this type of resource, or something similar available. Contact your state's Attorney General's for more information.- Caller: RPM (?)

Thanks to everyone else here- Caller: unknown name
- mpjThis is one of several companies that have called my cell number looking for someone else. I believe they are looking for a former Sprint/MCI customer who had my number about 5 years ago. From this and other websites the name of the company is RPM and it's a collections agency. If a message is left, it's undecipherable except for their pohone number. I've filed FTC and Do Not Call complaints already. Just contacted the PA Attorney General office to see what possible further steps I can take (thanks for the suggestion Chris).
- going crazythey called(alot) i called, and called, then finally got through, rpm! im only 20 what did i do.

- FURIOUS ONEARRGGH!!!! These guys are killing me!!! I finally cussed the guy out and he just hung up on me. I called them back and spoke to a different person, and after hearing what I had to say she, too, hung up on me. I called them again, but this time to hunt down the person in charge. When I got to her, I made sure she understood how annoyed I am with their endless calls and accusations of whatever debt they claim I still have. She claimed that she's going to put a dispute on their database; hopefully this will clear things up and put a stop on their meaningless calls.

- DebbieI usually don't answer unavailable calls, but this number shows on my caller ID numerous times during the day, I don't even get in the door and the phone is ringing. So finally, the other night I answered and they wanted my daughter who is out of town going to college. The first time he said he was from a financial institution and they could help her so I take down a name and number and call her. She has no idea who these people are and what they want. They call again the other night and I answer again. The woman named Lacey says that she (my daughter) left this number as her contact number. No she didn't, this is her parents house and it is an emergency number only. I ask if it in regards to her student loans, (she has no other bills right now) and she proceeds to get an attitude with me. I therefore get an attitude back and tell her to quit calling here that my daughter doesn't live here. Finally after more words, she hangs up. I called my daughter again and she said she will look into and see what is going on. They just won't stop, so now I don't even answer the phone AGAIN.

- Kristen| 1 replyA friend of mine has been getting calls from this number, 866-212-7408. She searched the number by doing a reverse search on the internet. This is what led me to all of your comments. I thought that maybe this was a scam because I called them from my phone. I never received phone calls from this number, I just wanted to see what they would tell me. First they asked my name and what number I was calling from. I told them my number, of course their was no account found. The customer service rep told me that they were looking for someone named, Deborah. Before I could find out where they were calling from or what kind of business this was, she hung up on me. So, I called back from my friends phone. After five minutes of being on hold, they answered and asked me my phone number. I gave my friend's cell and she said they were looking for a Deborah. I explained the reason for my call and that I have had the same number for many years, there is no way that my number was given by someone else. Then she asked me for my social security number. BINGO! SCAM! If you get a call from this number 866-212-7408 do not answer. Instead put yourself on a do not call list for your cell phone. This company is using a tactic that gets people thinking that they owe money to this financial Institution,RPM, as they say, and then when you give your phone number, they say that there is no account under that number, the next attempt, of course, is asking your social security number, verify your address and phone number again. Your information has just been stolen. Probably sold to some company. It would be wise for people to report this company. I asked the customer service rep to connect me to a supervisor, put on hold for 3 minutes and the same guy picks the phone up, pretending to be someone else. It was then that I threatened to repot them to the press. I was then connect to the Senior, blah-blah, named Mr. Hollis and he referred me to a lawyer named Andy. Mr. Hollis could not tell me where he was located or what his company did or why they were calling random people and asking for their information. Just don't give them your info, always make sure that you call to verify that the company saying you owe them money, is really the company. Even if its your bank, call them back and make sure. Watch out! Some of these scammers have caller id, this one did. They called me back twice already and tell me that my number pulls up two accounts under some random name. Not true because I called them, originally.
