i keep receiving phone calls from this number asking for someone who i don't know. They won't stop calling. Does anyone know how to stop this???????

Got a call from Ms. Combs at NorthStar Location Service.  They are a debt collection agency and are trying to collect on a debt which I do not owe.  Who is this company and how did they get my number?

They are calling for man who I don't know and they won't stop.

I keep getting calls from these people and they will not stop.  Keep asking for someone who has never lived here.  Calls come from North Star Locator Service (lurking in the darkness)

What kind of firm would call and harrass someone 20 minutes after their wife passes away.

I have agreed to pay these people on Nov 21 and yet they call me everyday at work trying to collect!

North Star called us for the 1st time today trying to locate our son.  Claims he has an outstanding debt and he should pay up.  We know he does have a lot of debt, but he has filed bankruptcy and all the creditors have that info and aren't supposed to call him.  They are to call his attorney, not him or us (his parents).  I called them back and told them we don't know where his is.

A man called and asked for Jodi - I said I don't know who Jodi is - he claimed I was lying and started harassing me -said that Jodi reported my telephone number to them 4 days ago - I told them she lied - and that I have received several phone calls for this person and that I have had this telephone number since June He accused me of lying again and said that I was Jodi - It took me using profanity and yelling at him before he  finally hung up - I called them back from the number appearing on my caller ID and they guy kept persisting that he didn't harass me - I finally asked to speak to his superior and they said they took my number off their list
I have reported it to the Federal Trade Commission and the police

This number has called me tons of times and they also started using numbers from around here. everytime they ask for lenka jekins i have no idea who this person is.. and everytime i tell them that and they keep calling about 5 mins ag i got a call from them on my cell phone no less.. and ignored it and he left me a voicemail i called back and said that he doesnt stop [***] calling me there will be police officers at the office the next day... who the hell are these people????

Northstar has called my cell twice.  first time the message was so garbled i just deleted it. this time no message so i called them.  spoke with a polite woman and she said she would remove my number and apologized.  while she was polite, i won't believe it til they stop calling.

I get the same thing. They call asking for people i've never heard of and I've had my number for 10 years. You are dealing with debt collectors so you really are dealing with the dumbest of the dumb. The qualifications must be to have failed at everything else and angry.

They have been harassing me for months.  They are so sarcastic, so rude.  I don't plan to answer again.

put your number in the national do not call list.

you can send by fax or mail a letter requesting that you do not want to be contacted in anyway. They have to stop or you will report. This is the the Fair Credit Procedure Act.

this company harrassed us at all hours of the day! even went so far as to call at 11:00 at night! totally rude! when told we would deal with company we owed money to, they acted like we were doing an injustice! that we didnt have the right! PEOPLE WE WARE!  YOU CAN CONTACT THE COMPANY YOU OWE MONEY TO & WORK OUT A PAYMENT PLAN~!  DO NOT PAY THESE KIND OF PEOPLE!  THEY ARE ONLY THE SCUM THAT WANT TO BE RUDE TO PEOPLE! They have no compasion for anyone that may loose a job or have a death in the family!

This number called me saying they are North Star and asked for 540 dollars for a mutual dispute case.  It was all made up and It was wrong what they do.

What they do is find out who has debt where (not sure how) and then claim the debt has been handed to them for collection. This is false. They were trying to collect on a credit card of ours that has NO delinquent payments. We do have one debt under a home business, but are working with the actual company and know the actual firm who handles it. In Northstar's letter, they got the account wrong, the amounts wrong, everything wrong. Their goal is to intimidate you and harass you until you agree to pay. Once you do agree to pay, if you think it was bad before, it's going to get worse. I have read other accounts of what they have done--where the person agreed to pay, they pay it off, then mysteriously, Northstar discovers additional debt and demands it. My thoughts are they are able to find out who has delinquent accounts and then they pretend to be the authorized collector. I made the initial mistake of returning the first call. The man screamed at me and made threats when I refused to give him my account number that he said he wanted to match the records to. (common sense 101--you don't give that to ANYONE) I told him if he in fact was the collector on that account, he had the number. I said I would call the institution in question to ensure that they were in fact being employed to do this. To which he became even angrier, accused me of stalling, and made threats with profanity. I hung up on him. This was about 4 months ago. The calls keep coming in, 10-15 a day up until midnight. I just decline every call.

These people have called me two days in a row now leaving me a very intimidating sounding message. From what I've read above, I doubt they have any credibility if they use profanity and threats. If you are a professional, you would have proper ways of going about business. I just need to know how to get rid of them and have them stop calling or else I'm going to start using profanity.
