They left me a message "Please call IRS at 866-257-3628 extention 3065 by 11 PM. This is regarding personal business matter"

I acted as if I am another person not the person she was calling about . She left me the 866-257-3628 and ext 3068. This is regardin a personal business matter. I have no clue what she wants. I tried calling back from an unknown number, Someone called Dr. Grant answered. I dint speak. Who cares...

They called a friend of mine and asked for me.  I had an ad in craigslist, someone responded and I gave her name and number as a reference.  Is this how they got the number?  I called the above number and was asked the number that was called, by the number he would refer me to the correct company hmmmm.
I asked what kind of company's are in the building he said, phone, cable, internet, banks so I just hung up.  Beware....

Called me and left a message with an extension (3136), telling me that it was important that I returned their call. I did, the number rang once and went to a machine with a hispanic-sounding woman's voice stating "the office is closed. Business hours are m-f 9am-9pm and sat 9am-4pm.' It was Saturday 1:00pm at the time. Called back several times, same result. Nobody on the message nor on the answering machine specified who they were or what business hey represented, but both voices sounded pretty uneducated and had an attitude about them. Sounds like some scumbags running some type of scam.

Received a call from these people.  Caller ID displays SABIH GOENCHER at 866-0133.  After doing more research, it appears these scam artists use Caller ID Spoofing methods to harass unsuspecting people.

Called them back at 866-257-3628 after a "Jim" left a message on my voicemail asking for a person that doesn't even reside where I live.  He said it was urgent to return his call at a certain extension.

When I called, a lady answered, and after being hesitant, she claimed they were a collection agency, but would not release the name of the company.  If they were legit, they would have nothing to hide.

Certainly these scam artists are reading posts like these so they can figure out how to perpetrate their next crmie.

**Do NOT release ANY information to these "people".  I work for the Government and I see plenty of these robotic call scams appearing all over the country.

If you're unsure of the number calling your home or place of business, Google it first.  There are plenty of pages like this that are used to report unwanted calls.  If the calls keep on coming, report it to the authorities as soon as possible.

This is the best advice I can give.

Brian - It is a scam.  Cases like these are popping up all over the country.  They used methods like Caller ID spoofing using programs such as Skype to perpetrate their crimes.  Occasionally they will use different names if and when they do answer the phone, or leave messages on your answering machine.

These "people" sometimes operate as a collection agency or a doctor's office in order to snag your personal information illegally.

If these calls keep coming, I would call the authorities, as they are best equipped to handle the situation.

I was worried because these people keep calling me with different names and ext. i didn't know who they were or how they got my number. when they call me a local number comes up 239-243-9194 but then again they ask me to call the 866 number with an ext.

Not a scam.  Turns out it was a collection agency.  They couldn't release any info about the debt unless I said I am who they are calling for. Understandable, considering the FDCPA practices they can't discuss it with anyone other than myself or a spouse.  I eventually got sent a letter and I realized I did have a debt that was already placed on my credit score...  Scary!

Stop the calls

This person's name has shown up on my called ID more than 5 times. I have never ans. it because I only ans. to people I know. I donothave an answering machine..

My parents received a call from this number and another number on the same day.  I have never listed my parents number as a form of contact on any credit card, phone, loan, etc.  If this was a legitimate collector they would have my personal number.  

Always follow these steps when dealing with a potential collector.  Ask for:

   The caller's name.
   The name of the collection agency that the collector is calling on behalf of.
   An address at which you can contact the collection agency.
   The name of the creditor.
   The amount the collector claims you owe.

I do not believe they are a debt collector, because not once did they leave a message in over two weeks, and when I did answer to tell them to stop - dead air, then hang up.  I have blocked the number, and if it is legit - I would never deal with them after getting a wake up call every morning at 8 am and no one there! Very unprofessional! Again, I personally do not believe it is a debt collector.

Just got a call from them, came up as "UNKNOWN" on my phone. They left a voicemail saying "hi this is Igia (that's what it sounded like she said) calling about an order you placed recently, if you can give us a call back so we can further assist you with your order." #1 I have no placed an order for anything recently, #2 I posted an ad on craigslist a few hours ago and have been getting spam texts all morning, so I'm going to go ahead and say this person is spam as well. Especially since the story has changed from debt collector to someone trying to help me complete an order.

Got a call for my husband, called the number back and waited on hold for 5 minutes before the line went dead. It says that it is to collect a debt. Guess they aren't getting paid today!
