Got a call from someone called "Maureen" asking me to call back at that number. She didn't say what company she was calling from or what she wanted. I didn't call back.

Message claims to be NCO to collect a debt and its' important that the person call back today at the number given.  The only NCO that I recall is when we pay our NICOR gas bill, NCO is at the top of the page in the corner. We also pay through MYCHECKFREE.COM and their site shows us with the current bill under 100 dollars, so we don't understand the call.

Its NCO Financial. They are a debt collector. They also like to collect information and sell it to others. And yes they can because they make it look like they are selling debt but just selling info. If they do call you ask them information about a person they are trying to reach. If they ask you to verify personal info like SSN DO NOT GIVE IT TO THEM. Make them prove to you that you are the person that they are trying to reach. Ask them to spell the last name. If they ask for last 4 of SSN, ask for the first 5,,,, things like that. Ask for address listed. If its an old address of yours then it might be legit. If they give you an address you never heard of from a state across the country then they are not looking for you and any info they do get from you gets to go into a database that they can sell.

NCO Financial Systems, Inc. has called me many times in the past using different numbers. They claim to want to collect a debt that I owe, except that I do not owe any debts. This is the first time that we have been called by NCO Financial Systems, Inc. in a while.
