got a call from this number and they are wanting to sue me for $ 531.00. are theses people for real????

I too could not stand these calls and thought it was a fraud. This is a phone no. linked to a law firm. It is a courtesy call to help those who may or may not be aware that they have a claim against them. I am glad I answered their phone call. It is a serious matter, since I am the one at fault and racked up or overlooked my debt. They let me know the consequences and were very professional and assisted me in rectifying my situation. They could have taken me to court w/ out contacting me. Because of it, I was able to avoid appearing in court and save me from the embarrassment of having a subpoena served to my home or work place. Also, now I can buy my dream home without worrying about a judgment or garnishment against my SSN. Thank Mr. #$%@^&*! for the settlement and notifying me of the consequences of my ir-responsibilities of the past. I received a receipt from them after paying off my debt, SO THEIR ARE LEGIT! Everyone else: MAN UP & take care of your s**t. They are just trying to help!

Total BS.  These people have latched their robo-caller onto one of my business cell numbers.  No person is ever actually calling.
When we call 866-267-9647 - there are the usual time-wasting delays until a person answers.  That person claims the number 866-267-9647 belongs to Scott  Carruthers, a supposed attorney.  They offer no info about what type of law the alleged Mr Carruthers practices, only that his offices are in Colorado, Florida and some other location.  When asked to be removed from the list of calls we were informed that it may takes days for that action to take effect.  Wonderful.  Since then the calls have increased to several a day.  We've called back once again to inform them that our number is not associated with oneof their cases only to be treated to some of the most rude and surly talk we've ever heard from a man who claimed to have been  "doing this for 15 years."  Apparently they hire creepy lowlifes with no ambition who delight in harassing strangers by phone.  We hope to get our mobile provider to block the number.

If you get a letter from this company, send them a letter disputing the claim and ask them not to contact you unless it's through an attorney. If an "attorney" talks to you through them ask for their bar number and the state where they are licensed. These people are very misleading in making others believe they are speaking to an actual lawyer. NOT TRUE, all the lawyers I know are educated and professional and the people I talk with raise their voice, hang up on me, and use harsh or foul language. There is an actual D. Scott Carruthers & Associates based out of california. Problem is the REAL legal office cant take any action against you unless you reside in the state of california. Its a form of harrassment when Regent A**es Management Solution tells you they can take you to court, garnish yor wages and take your assets, how can they? They are just a bunch of angry unhappy debt collectors who have no control over you unless they take you to court. But they cant! Stand up against these greedy vultures who try to take make money on another person's debt. They buy your account for pennies on the dollar and try to collect the full thing, look it up! They are a bunch of cold hearted, low life, dispicable scums who cheat people and take their money when it is not rightfully owed to the collection agency.

I am putting together an investigation about these people if you have had problems and are willing to submit docmentation ect post a message on here and I will contact you.

My fiance received a letter from D. Scott Carruthers and Associates out of California for past debt to US Bank. We're from Kentucky, not California, but they make it seem as though they are going to puruse legal action. They have also added an interest fee on what is owed from 4 years ago, but a year ago there was no interest at all added on the debt. They also claim they have started an investigation to verify employment, assests, and banking information. To cap it all off, they say if he doesn't contact them by the end of the month to resolve the issue more fees(attorney and court)will added to what he owes. Problem with that is, we just received the letter today(the last day of the month) and the letter wasn't even sent till Janurary 21st. This doesn't seem very legit and we're not sure what to do about it. We're willing to submit the letter for an investigation into the company.

I got one of those letters too. I owed us bank on a closed account. US bank pissed me off with over draft fees. I deposited my payroll check before five pm one day.. I still had funds in my account... they did not POST The check until the next buisness day...thus causing a bundle of over draft fees... that is called the " quick sand trap " that banks use. screw them... I closed my account and F them. F this guy too. He got this old debt for next to nothing... I am not going to be bullied into paying them a F ing dime. I will sue them if they sue me.

i too got a letter from this scum back in february and did not do my homework i have payed them 2800.00 dollars then today found all of this information out i went to the bank and canceled my debit card number and was issued another they only had my debit card number not my bank account number i was wondering if these big piles of sh*t can come after me for the remaining 1300.00 i am at a loss for words on what to do they have already scammed me out of 2800.00 dollars that i thought was going to US bank.  i live in KY but if they can only take you to court or come after you if you live in california i think i might be ok to just ignore them.  but i am not sure are there any suggestion from anyone out there who has been scammed by these bottom feeders!

I had a past due account with US Bank several years ago and settled this account with another debt collector who has a local office ( real debt collectors will, btw) 3 weeks ago, and then I get an extortion letter from this clown telling me to pay 10x the amount I just settled with the other collector. I never laughed so hard in my life !!! I used the letter to light up a cigarette. ;)

Yes, We are only licensed in California, However it takes about 5 minutes to contact an attorney in the county which you reside and have them file the suit for us... It's completly legal, and we have a directory of loss litigation attorneys for almost every county in the U.S. Just because you do not reside in California does not mean we cannot persue you.

I think you guys are giving this D. Scott Carruthers an unfair beating.  The guy is a long time attorney (36 years) with a squeaky clean record.  The calls you people are referring to are from a collection agency he represents and sues for.  You're shooting the messenger with all these hateful comments.  I called Carruthers office personally when I received a letter from him and managed to speak to the guy directly.  He was extremely polite and very understanding of my situation.  I paid him with a credit card and he even deleted the tradeline off my credit report.  Maybe you guys should try being nice to these people instead of treating them like the enemy.  In doing so, they will probably bend over backwards to help you.  Seems to me that most of you are just making up stories so you don't have to pay your bills.  Me, I pay my bills and the few times I had collectors call me, I treated them with respect and they treated me with like respect and consideration.  You get more bees with honey, folks.

My husband had a debt with US Bank that he wasnt aware of first of all, than they gave it to D Scott Carruthers, we paid this bill on July 2008 and we are still getting phones calls and letters stating we owe them and the fee keeps getting bigger and bigger, I have called them everytime and everytime I fax over the information stating we paid our bill to no avail. OMG what can we do to get rid of them! Help!!!!

i received a letter stating that i had an account with us bank long ago. i had no recalection of this account and informed the woman on the phone. she has been very patient and understanding of my issue. i called us bank they too have no record of me or my ss# on file ANYWHERE!!! im not sure where this will go but i hope all ends well. i am beig treated with respect and kindness. they r also willng to talk to the bank to try to resolve this issue. is this lip service only time will tell. i do have to say that its odd that nobody has a signature card or anything else to varify my identity. but we will see what happens. i wish all of u luck and will post when all this is done

I received a letter stating that I owe US Bank $1800.70 for an account I had defaulted on. I did have a debt to US Bank YEARS AGO and I paid it YEARS AGO! So, I called the numbers on the letter 1-866-816-3791 & 866-645-9544 both go to the same automated system. The first time I called I was hung up on before I could even speak, the second timeI was hung up on after stating that I had received a letter that falsely is trying to collect a debt which was already payed, the third time a woman finally answered and told me it was referred to them by US Bank so I would have to dispute it with them. Each time I called it sounded like they were nearly having a house party in the background, not at all like a legitimate law office. When I called USBank they said it sounded like fraud. They don't outsource their collections, it all stays in-house. Ifeel bad for those on here who already gave money. Do some research, don't give them any money! Deal directly with the company you owe!

I honestly think that the positive posts on here are probably from the scammers themselves not actual people in collections, or they are naive and of course Carruthers was nice to them. They didn't question it; wouldn't you be nice to someone who handed you money without questioning why they owed it to you. For those of you who are receiving harrassing calls I would tell them to cease the harrassment or you will see them in court on your own turf.

I received one of your letters.  Please.  Feel free to sue me in Shawnee County, KS.  I have proof that I do NOT owe any money, and I think if you would like to pursue your case, you should really follow up with the law department at US Bank prior to filing.  If you do decide to file, I will once again defend myself, and I WILL charge you thousands of dollars in my own legal fees.  You know... research, time and trouble, etc...  

I will then follow up with yet another lawsuit against both you and US Bank for malfeasance in that you both are obviously unaware that US BANK gave up all rights to collect this debt in a settlement agreement after I sued them for breach of contract.

So please... feel free to sue me.  I need the money.

I have been scammed by them also. I gave the mistake of giving them 50 last month getting put on a payment plan. I did not do my research at all. they also sent me a letter saying they would pursue legal action. I thought it was strange that they insisted i can only pay by credit card and not by mail. They are rude,they hung up on me all the time and when iwent to pay my socalled plan again . I told the rep that i would only be paying by mail,he started yelling and cussing. This is definitley a scam.

i got one too. but i call her and say i cant pay and she say she is going to file a lawsuit on me? i told her im not working and she dont care so what the hell u going to arrest me for not having the money to pay them. oh yea and i was over draft cuz stupid us bank, didnt put my money that i deposit in time so when i withdraw it was -300? ok now wth im overdraft so fuk them im not gonna pay the overdraft price of $200. fuk that so i ran away from that dumb bank and 1year later this letter. ok watever. file me lawsuit i will just wait i told that bish i will pay back when i work but she didnt care what a hoe, i lost my job i cant pay ok, plus i have other debt bills higher than $400 dollar and they dont even fuken take me to court so try me....

This communnication is from a debt collect. It is an attempt to collect a debt any information obtained will be used for that purpose?
