I got call 12/9/2014 at 11:49am Googled # is Mohela apparently a company that helps collect student loans, mine has been paid off for around 30 years.

GOT CALL 12/16/2014 AT 12:30pm  Then he call again this time he left a message  "my name is MOHELA call me"

This is a bill collector company. They buy files of closed out companies, such as in Texas they have bought out hospital accounts of hospitals that have closed. Now they are trying to collect this money, these accounts have been charged off and paid already. As a financial advisor, don't pay one of a company that had been closed. It will drop your score by up to 90 points if you reopen a default account.

They call a lot --with a recorded message saying it's mohela ( sp?) ,and to call them back and give their office hours.  I recently got my phone number which is unlisted for me and I have no debt. Got tired of them calling so I called back from the caller ID number and entered all 0's at the auto prompt which got me a rep- I informed them this was a new number for me and they need to remove it from their system, they said they were trying to reach David (somebody) - not anyone I know-but the rep took the info and said my number was now removed from their system.

I got a call on 12-30-2014 from 866-292-8590. I did not answer so I found this thread and called the number back and in was MOHELA. A recording asked for a Loan Number or SS Number. I just answered "I do not know" and was transferred to a Rep for MOHELA. The rep did confirm they collect for government student loans. As you may have figured I have never had a student loan. The rep cross referenced my home phone number and it was tied to my ex-wife's student loan and I have not seen her in 20+ years. My home number was acquired only 7 years ago. So?...I guess they are searching for her and all past or present relatives are linked in the same data base.  Long story is you maybe getting calls for your cousin, aunts or ex's student loans?

Note: I do not believe my ex even knows my number or used it on her student loan. I hope this helped!

I keep getting calls from this company. I never furthered my education. So that means it's anyone but me.  I've answered once in a while out of pure frustration from the harassment and gee wouldn't you know nobody's at the other end. I've blocked a few of the numbers and I still get to calls from the place. If it weren't for this site of people saying what mohela is i never wouldve known which I thank you all.

Got a recorded message on my machine. Saw the postings on here saying MOHELA for student loans, and it got my hackles up. I called back, when it asked for my SSN or account number I entered 000-00-0000# two times, then it hooked me up with Jim. Nice guy with a midwest accent. It WAS the student loan people looking for someone I knew a LONG time ago -- ex girlfriend. They had to search why they called me by looking up my telephone number. I recommend a call back to them, if there are no skeletons in your closet. Maybe they're looking for Zeke, your long lost drinking buddy from those forgettable college days. He promised to take me off the list, BTW -- worth the call back for that alone!!

They call once a day sometimes twice a day..most of the time it's a males voice but has switched over to a women's ...Glad I googled it..found out what they are up too..we have no student loans...but my husband has 3 older children and not too responsible..have no contact with them at all..But one of them we know has debt from 25 yrs ago..it might be her..We're just glad we have an answering machine and never have to pick it up..which we never will..You think they would give it up..

I got a call and neither i or my son have student loans

It is Mohela. Thanks to this website, I answered the call, verified my identity, and brought my student loan current.

Mohela company , they were looking for "Rowdy R. Bundy" , I informed them I was not the person nor did I have any outstanding student loans or ever know that person , I had been getting "Robo Calls" from this # for 6-8 mo's and never called them back , but decided to to see what the h_ _ _ they wanted . I think they are using recycled cell phone #'s , as I got a new phone and # recently, thanks to all for the useful information!!!!

Call at least once a day.  Ongoing.  Looking for someone who doesn't even live here.

I've been getting calls from this number and thanks to this website I finally figured it out. I am only thirteen and have never been to College so I'm thinking their either trying to get in touch with my sisters or they just found the wrong number

I have never had a student loan and Mohela continually calls and leaves messages about how my loan is in default and I need to call them.  So tired of it.
