I got a call from "unknown" the other day, they left a message saying it was my bank (the knew my actual bank name) and I need to 866-295-9060 to discuss an urgent matter with my account.  I called, got a voice prompt that all lines were busy (voice sounded like an African-American lady from the South) and someone would be with me shortly.  I held for 20 minutes, while on hold, my wife called our bank and they saw nothing wrong with my account and it was probably a phishing call!  Wow.

I got the same call from the same woman and thought she sounded shady, she said there was an urgent matter and it was very important I called.  I asked her if she was calling from the local branch, she said she was calling from a service desk... When she kept asking to confirm account information I said I would call PNC directly.  There was nothing wrong with my account and PNC does not have that phone number.  It was a scam, phishing for information, what a loser.  I hope she gets shut down before the holidays.  Get a job.

I have the same story about the "Unknown" number and suspicious message.
Long story short: It actually IS a real call center from PNC.
Shorth story long: I didn't trust it, the call came in at 6:30 PM saying they needed a call back by 6:45. That seemed fishy to me so I checked my account on-line and saw no messages from the bank. I decided not to call them back. The next morning, a check I had written for over $600 was returned... so I called the regular PNC number, waited 11 min to talk to a person, they verified that the number is their call center for suspicious activity.
They do not have direct inbound dial capability on their individual phones, only outbound calling and their inbound calls come from that 866 number.
So... believe me if you will, or you will have to re-submit a bill like I am doing right now.

This was an actual call from PNC Bank. I verified with the customer service center at PNC and they called the number. It is a PNC bank fraud department number. They were questioning a check written on my account and wanted my permission to process it.

Legit number.  PNC fraud protection.  Got an e-mail from them saying they had tried to reach me in regards to a check that I had written.  They just wanted verification.  They only asked for a reference number in the e-mail, my name and for me to verify my address.  All other information was them verifying who they actually were.  Sorry, I am not very trusting to bank e-mails due to so many phishing scams.  But this one is good.

I recieved a message from them as well. They are PNC, but they sound very shady. The message sounded like it came from someones garage. When I called back the operator started asking me all sorts of info about my debit card. I was like why do you need this. Who are you. He then said its about check number ***. I said if this is about a check then why do you need debit info. He became very defensive and said fine go into a branch. I was like what is this about?? He said it was fraud protection. Anywho I eneded up giving him the infomation but they were vety rude. Also both message and operator sounded very shady. I see I'm not the only one who thought this. I think as fraud department your goal would be to sound as unshady as possible haha.

This is PNC's fraud prevention line.  If they see a check that has a different signature or one for a larger amount than normal, they will call to verify it was a legitimate check written by the account holder.  They have called me several times for personal and business issues like this.

I was also concerned with this number.  It is PNC's Fraud Alert center.  I called my local PNC first - they didn't know anything about the alert but were able to confirm that the phone number was legitimate.  When I called they were making sure that a check written was legitimate because my son's signature was illegible compared to his signature card when we opened the account.  The call was legitimate.

Got a call from this number a  person named Auriel claimed she wanted to verify account information about the signee of a check  and was asking personal information over the phone which we never give out because of so many deceptive callers refused to either e-mail us or send concerns in writing through the mail when we called back the branch number a person who referred to themselves as Saeda, put us on hold for long periods of time.  Probably a scammer like the 17 calls we got on 3/6/21 that we had to report to the FTC, during the hold period caller ID flashed another number 1-414-364-1973 in West Allis where multiple prior scam calls originate.  If it's legitimate they can notify us in writing or by e-mail instead of arousing suspicion by putting us on hold instead of being forthcoming.
