- cherylSuspicious about the automated message I received reguarding suspicious activity on recent transactions, I called the number. They wanted me to submit the last 4 digits of my card number, when I entered nothing, it said that if I was not an authorized card holder to then enter my 9 digit social security number and zip code. I still did not enter anything and a person picked up and asked for my last four digits of the card in question. I said I didn't know which card they were referring to and I stated that I had a USAir credit card. She said yeah, that one. I didn't give her the number and she couldn't verify who she was. I called cardmember services to check my accounts and there was no note that anyone had called me.
- Caller: Barclay formerly Juniper bank
- HatI received a similar call, and all I provided was the last four of my SSN. The automated system then identified my card and listed a few recent charges off my credit card and asked for verification that they were legit. This was after hopping around the continental US for a month, so it's really no surprise that they called.
My card is a specific rewards card, but the actual card is plain with no hint of the rewards program. Unless the company was compromised, it's pretty unlikely that a 3rd party could have gathered all the info they gave me this quickly. I didn't bother trying to reach a human since my one past experience trying was painful.- Caller: Barclay formerly Juniper bank
- DLBNothing bad going on here. As a matter of fact, it almost sounded like the card was not going to work again until this was verified. It was an online purchase, and the first purchase made with the card. Was actually ok with them doing this.. They had all the information correct, as stated above, if someone 'else' had this info, there were more problems anyway.
- Caller: Barclay / Juniper
- Frank KupecGot a call 1/18/08 stating that my Barclays Bank CC was being used fraudulently. Don't have a Barclays account! The 866-390-3441 number was left on vmail.
- Caller: unknown name
- SandyI received a message on my answering machine from the Fraud Department at Barclay asking me to call to verify recent purchases on my Barclay card. For those of you who don't know, Barclay is Juniper. I did not call the number back left on the machine but did call the number on the back of my credit card. They did, in fact, need to confirm recent purchases, which were all valid. I was advised that certain purchase habits, ie. a large amount of purchases after no activity, a lot of online purchases, etc., can trigger an investigation and will put a hold on your account until you verify the purchases with them.
- Caller: Barclay
- JmodeneLegit call; I had made a cash advance on my card which raised a red flag - they wanted to make sure it was really me doing it, so they froze the card and left me a voice mail to call this particular number. Called it, got through right away, and the security rep, whose name I've already forgotten, was very helpful and polite. No problem here.
- Caller: Barclay/Juniper
- JCReceived call about suspicous activity on my credit card. I called and automated system asked for last for of social and zip code.
- JustinI got this message but called the number on the back of my card. I have the Juniper iTunes Rewards card and when I called a message told me there was a questionable charge of .99 cents from iTunes on the card. I haven't used this particular card in weeks (it's been in a drawer) and there's only one auto pay service that gets charged to it a month.
Even though it was only .99c I thought I'd stay on the line and talk to someone. A guy answered and after verifying he went on to list a number of online transactions all under $25 and I said I didn't make any of them. He said even though they were small amounts they totaled a rather large sum and that someone probably used a number generator which hit my CC number as valid. I'm not responsible for any of the charges and they're canceling the card and sending a new one immediately.
GLAD I FOLLOWED UP!!!! - Jason HarrisThe recording says its a trasaction center,to varefy recent activity on your account but it never give a company name, Then it requests your social security number
- Caller: Also unknown
- Jackson State Bank & TrustA client came into our branch having received a call from this number. I called back, and although the whole setup sounded professional, the woman I spoke to was rather rude and short with me. She wanted a social security number to proceed, and I was reluctant to provide one. She said she couldn't help without a SSN, and tried to get me off the phone. Overall suspicious.
- Caller: Barclays?
- Laura Jo RivielloReceived call - asked to call back due to suspicious activity on my account. I googled the number instead and saw that there were others who got same weird call. Figured it was a fraud.
- Caller: Barclay Bank
- EthanI got a call from the same number asking me to contact them about suspicious transactions. I was VERY suspicious. I have a Juniper Mastercard. I was being charged couple of hundred dollars. I called them back and they canceled my account and issued a new card for me. So don't worry guys, it is a LEGITIMATE call. It is not a fraud because I checked my account online before calling them and everything they said was accurate correct. It is an automated system that calls people when a fraud has been detected on their account.
- NanaI just received the voice mail message that Barclays wanted me to check on my credit card activity and to return the call or call the number on my credit card. I've checked my credit cards and none have Barclays on the back. We shop at BJ's but don't have their credit card...the one we use is of another bank.
How do we know the posts that say this is legitimate are not from people involved in the "scam"...if it is one? No offense intended.- Caller: Barclays Bank
- NanaThe call was for our son - they didn't say who they were calling - he used his car to pay for his gas and it wouldn't accept it - he called the number on the card and got it straightened out. They just bought a townhouse and had to buy a lot of things to furnish it so that is why Barclays called to check on the unusual activity. It really is legitimate and good for them! It is worth the little bit of inconvenience.
- Caller: Barclays Bank
- Rick BeckmanTotally legit call -- all automated, in my instance, but the choice to speak to a human was there. The call concerned a Juniper Visa Card w/ iTunes Rewards that I have, the first purchase I made with it being a laptop computer. That was a big charge made in a different zip code than where the card's billing address is, so I'm not surprised they called to get verification on the charges.
- ArtReceived call today from 866 390-3441 regarding a possible hold on my card, I called the customer service number on my card and they had no record of any problems. I was suspictious because of no caller ID, Which I believe is required by law when a credit card company calls. I would not call the number given on a message, but rather play it safe and call the number on my credit card. Beware
- Caller: unknown
- mjohnsonThey left a message, not indicating who the message was for, questioning recent purchases, and gave a number to call back to. When called, asked for last 4 of social security number, and I hung up.
- Caller: Barkleys
- ksgLegitimate call, I got the voicemail which sounded suspicious so I called the number on the back of my card (Juniper iTunes) instead. There was indeed a hold on my card for a purchase I'd made the night before, they really need to improve the message their auto-dialer leaves to make it sound less scam like. On my phone the caller ID said anonymous which sent up red flags for me but knowing Juniper cards are through Barclays Bank I called the card directly.
- TBCLegit call. Glad I answered. there was a charge to my account from True.com that no one charged from here. I am the only one with access and knowledge of the cards and it was not me. They cancelled my card and reissued another. Glad they caught it.
- Caller: Barclays Juniper
- Pam HymanI had a call from the same number, I called it back and gave my last 4 SS# because I searched the internet and found this site. I asked her which card she was talking about and they gave me the last four numbers.
I then went to that card and called the customer service number and sure enohg there had been a chg on my card that I did not make. They cancelled my card and am sending me a new one to my address on file.
