- fedThey keep calling me
- EmmaMastercard Security
- JimIt is a legit number from BMO Security,my card also was fraudulently used
but is was noticed by BMO right away and my card cancelled right there - steppenw1| 1 replyYes, it is clearly the BMO fraud department, on the ball and checking if anyone has made fraudulent modification on your MC card, or used it fraudulently - the number is ligit.
- Caller: Bank of Montreal
- Craig - Vancouver| 2 repliesAs above - the number is good, however, they did not leave a message - so that made me suspicious, so as one of the folks above stated – call the number on the back of the card and they can tell you what the call was about. As other have stated – do not key in your account number without ensuring that you have a person at a verifiable number. The BMO number is 514 877-0330 for Security or 1 800 263-2263 for Customer Service. Again, the number on the back of your card is safest. All the best folks, C in YVR.

- Gary in Edmonton replies to Craig - Vancouver| 1 replyExcellent advice, Craig. The call we got was an automated message that rambled on with no clear purpose. We will be calling the regular number to verify.
- Jenny replies to Gary in EdmontonIt is a BMO number but they didn't leave a message the first time. On their second attempt, they left a message to call them at one of their contact numbers (all listed on your statement). It turns out they found fraudulent activity and were advising that a new card would be issued and to expect it within 7-10 days. Always call the numbers on the back of your card or from your statement - just to be safe. Thanks BMO Security Dept. for being vigilant!
- Jules| 1 replyWe just got a call from them and called the number they gave us. They asked for our credit card number and we did not feel comfortable. We called the official number on the back of our card and they checked this number and said that not only was it NOT a BMO number and that they would NEVER ask you to give them your credit card number over the phone. There was indeed NO flag on our account and it was definitely a fraudulent call.
- MaryReceived a call from this number today and they said my mom's US Mastercard had been compromised and they were sending a new one. I checked her account online and all seemed alright so not sure how it was compromised.
- Bull replies to steppenw1Thats a load of bull it is not a BMO number, it has only tied in to in old BMO account. BOM does not leave messages from security, they will ask you to come into your Branch if there is an issue, Who ever you are to acknowlege that is is real are pobably part of the fraud!!!
- PeteI was skeptical on whether this number was for real, so I called the actual BMO Mastercard number on the BMO website instead. They told me that this is a real number calling me, but it isn't listed on the website because it is only used for fraud cases and they try not to give it out because they don't want people to be calling it all of the time.
It was a legit call. Some scam company was sending tester charges to my account (these are charges of $0.00, they're testing to see if they can access the account without you noticing). They were calling me to tell me that they blocked the charges, and now I am getting a new CC sent to me. If you don't believe it, just call the ACTUAL BMO, and they can tell you one way or the other. In my case, this number was LEGIT.- Caller: BMO Mastercard Security
- Susie QJust got a call from this number to my unlisted number today, Sunday morning. They said a replacement BMO Mastercard that had been sent to me, ending with 4 digits, had been activated. I have a BMO Mastercard but it doesn't end in those 4 digits and it hasn't been replaced recently. Part of the message said to phone them back if I hadn't activated that card. When I called, it wanted me to enter my card number. I didn't and it wouldn't let me go any further. I tried pressing "0" but nothing happened. I called the BMO number that is on my statements. She wasn't concerned or didn't understand. She wanted my card number but that wasn't the point so I didn't give it to her. I've had my phone number only 9 months so I suggested that they might have been trying to contact to person who had the number before me but she didn't care. Instead, she told me to phone Phone Busters at 1-888-495-8501. When I called them, the message said that their offices aren't open and gave the hours.
I think this is a scammer. When I called the real BMO number it gave me the option of pressing "0" if I didn't have a card number but this number didn't. Too many things about this are fishy.- Call type: Prank
- SL ColoradoThis is the fraud department for MasterCard. It is legitimate.
- Caller: BMO
- LouiseThis number is NOT legitimate. Call the number on the back of your card! Ask them if this number is legitimate. IT'S NOT!
The scammers are posting comments on these sites to deceive you!- Caller: BMO
- M SThis is the legitimate number, and no I'm not a scammer as someone suggested. I too received the call and doubted it. The man I spoke with asked for my card number and I said "No I don't think so, you called me." He told me to contact the customer care # on the back of the card and they would be able to help me and direct me. Which I did. My card HAD been flagged and even though my card was safely in my wallet the number had been stolen. They stopped and reversed the charges and are sending me out a new card. The advice to call the number on the back of the card was good advice. Don't just give out your credit card information to anyone, no matter how legitimate the call sounds.

- BarbaraI was notified by bmo fraud line and sent all info to them would like to know status of this investigation before I die
- Caller: scammer
- Yl replies to JulesWe just had the exact same experience. Always call the number on the card!
- GeorgeBmo Master card would not leave a number for you to call. Scammers usual do. They would tell you to call them using the numbers on your statement. Common practice. Best thing to do is give wrong info and see if they pick up on it, if they don't well you know.

- Foggy1967BEWARE - The email I received said to call 866-418-8151 or 416-849-9003 or alternatively to call the number on the back of the credit card. You would think they would know the number on the back of the credit card and print it in the email as it is listed on the legitimate BMO website. The 866 above is unlisted and the 416 number is registered to Towing Service in Toronto. NEVER CALL ANY NUMBERS YOU RECEIVE IN A BANKING EMAIL - ALWAYS CALL THE NUMBER ON THE BACK OF YOUR CREDIT CARD or statement if you have concerns. The same goes when you receive a creditor phone call, always call the number on your actual statement or the ones provided from the legitimate baking website as they callers can also be fraudulent and may be trying to seek your personal information or use your phone number in other calling scams. CALL CENTRES CAN ALSO BE STAGED/SET UP to fool unsuspecting folks and make you think you are calling legitimate organizations. These fraudulent callers are likely taking the chance you won't call the number on the back of your credit card and will call the number in their email or call scam to try to catch as many unsuspecting/unaware people as they can. Always call the banks directly from phone numbers provided on your statements, printed on your bank cards if you have any concerns. Better safe than sorry. PS: Anyone can also enter comments in this website so exercise caution and do your own research and don't rely only on what you read in forums like this.
- RCReceived an automated phone call from this number, they had proper ending code of the MC, and said it was fraud detection services. The automated voice actually sounded familiar, but instead of using the supplied number I called the one on the back of my card (also supplied by online banking). The original call was legit, and they had detected use on my husband’s card while he was travelling. We do actually get valid calls a couple times a year, but I don’t always recognize the phone number, and prefer to call back a trusted number on my own.
