They called me this morning and left a message to call them back at this number. The person who left the message did not state where they were calling from or why, but did say "I am calling for Julie ----, if this is not Julie, please do not listen any further." How stupid. Anyway, I am sure this is a collection agency. The number comes up unknown caller on my caller ID. It is my understanding that collection agency numbers are supposed to come up on caller ID's and not say unknown, but I am going to check that after I get done writing this by going into the rules collection agencies must follow.

this sounds like Calvary Portfolio Services....Definitely a collection company...Did you know that you can settle your debt with these people for about 30-50 cents on the dollar?

They called my parents and made it sound as if it was an absolute emergency that they get a hold of me. having settled all my debt five years ago and currently carry no credit cards I would really like to know who these people are. Fortunately my mother refused to give them my number unless they say why they were calling.

This company has consistantly called me for a year now about a debt that has been paid for 3 years. Well today they crossed the line they started calling family members.

Got a call from "Nicole".  Terribly rude, inarticulate, and has the worst phone manners I've ever heard.  Did not give company name, just her first name and a number, which wasn't even the number that came up on the Caller ID.

Today it was "Toni". They asked for someone other than me. Then they asked me if I was that persons husband. Twice. Duh?
To even pass along a message to someone I know, I require A name with an ID#, Company name, Message, and Callback number. If I don't get all of that, I don't give the message as it is a bogus message.

Called my parents number and asked for me saying I had given them my parents number to get a hold of me. Not True! I never give out my number or numbers of family members. The woman said her name was Ms. Rollins and to return the call at 866-428-6589 ext.11150 She wouldn't tell my parents what the call was about. Probably some type of scam Identity theft, or major charges on your phone bill if you call it back not sure not going to risk it.

Someone named Gail King called from the same # ext 11140 with same story about if it is not who she asked for to stop listening. These people are relentless especially since ALL of my debts except my mortgage have been paid to zero. This is PHISHING at its finest. Geeeeesh.

Got a call, 2 days in a row, from a Ms. Rogers at extension 11010.  Would not disclose what this was about, so I refuse to call her back.  I have no idea what this is about, and not planning to find out

I got calls from these people daily (today it was preston)and began to look into it. I also sent a complaint to my State Attorney General about them but, go to this web site to find detailed info about the company and their Admin people. https://800notes.com/Phone.aspx/1-866-428-6589 This site lists their CEO, and right down the line. I sent a stop calling notice (to each of them) and if they persist then they can be made to pay more than they can collect from you (unless you owe a ton) Enjoy.

I got a call at work from Portfolio Recovery Associates, LLC. They left me a message on my voice mail. I called back and asked them what it was about. They said I owed money from 1995 and they wanted to collect it. Are they kidding. I hung up on them told them I do not owe anyone money. Just don't call this number back. Did they ever hear of Statute of Limitations. They are a scam company. Don't fall into the trap and send money you don't owe.

JUST DON'T TALK TO THEM OR GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION.

We get calls all day long.  If we don't recognize it on the Caller ID we let it go to Voice Mail.

I got a message from them [http://www.portfoliorecovery.com/contact.asp] read the posts above and decided to contact the NJ State Attorney General's office with the info.  If we all do that the State Attorneys may take action against these people.

These clowns called me as well. Some debt that I never even heard of from some unknown company. Definitely some sort of scam or fishing expedition. Her name was "Ms. Casey" and she was very nasty. I calmly told her to take her attitude, as well as her scam, and cram it deeply into the bodily orifice of her choice!

I received an answering machine message from a person who identified themselves as 'Lisa Flauter' from Portfolio Recovery Associates, said 'this is an attempt to collect a debt', and to return the call to 866-428-6589, extension 11103.  No need to repeat the information from the postings below, but this company has many (MANY) different 800, 866 & 877 numbers as well as many different ficticous caller's names they use to dupe individuals into returning their calls. Just be aware that anytime you call an '800' number, your number shows up on their caller ID.

I just recieved a call, wanting my husband, said his name was Mr. Brackett left the number of 1-866-428-6589 ext 11307, would not give the name of the company he was calling for and what reasons. I didn't offer any information to him either. We should not have any bills in collection. Sorry I don't have caller ID.

They said they were a collection agency, recovering a debt for Direct Energy.  Funny-- we've never had any utilities through Direct Energy-- never heard of them!  We asked them to send a copy of the invoices with the meter number and they can't provide that.  They're scam artists and very rude.  Another number they call from is 866-940-7640.

They called my parents looking for my old roommate... said that he had put my parents' info on an application and that he listed my dad as his dad.  I don't think my old roomie even knew my dad's name much less had his number (lives across the country).  This old roommate is VERY honest, works 2 jobs, and has always paid his stuff on time... I don't see him putting my parents' number down for anything either.  They also called me, but it went to my voicemail and it was very hard to understand who they were looking for.

Yeah, called me at work!  WTF?  Left a message with lady's first name, phone # and extension.  No company name.  FU!

Got a call from these people today. Very unprofessional!!! They called for a debt that I don't even know about but the killer is that the claim is over 15 yrs old. They had some personal info about me, that's what scared me. I told them to submit me the information they have and all they say they could do is put in a dispute. HA HA!!! Don't fall for it!!! SCAMMERS!!!
