I received a call at my home from someone who wanted me to call 1-866-458-7619 to make payments on my Home Depot Credit Card. Is this legit?

I received a call from Home Depot about a balance due but we do not have a Home Depot card

Yes its legit. I work for citi. If you have a home depot acct than yes. Look at the back of your card and you will see that citi is the financial institute that finances the home depot credit cards

Yes this is citi they handle the home depot accounts. If you receive a message to call this number your acct is past due this is the inbound number for collections. I work there.

I keep getting these calls too and I have never had a citi bank card or a Home Depot card/account.

I keep getting getting calls 3-4 daily from this number about a credit card I have never had. Supposedly from home depot. i have explained three different people. is there any way to really stop this harasment other than changing number? Home depot/Citi are a disgrace.

This place sucks.  I keep receiving collection calls from this place and I don't have a home depot credit card.

A spanish peaking person calls, my mom continues conversation with that caller explining her self her paiment is not due yet. So she hands me the phone and insits on me handle the situation.The  1866 operator speaking to me like if it was a live or die sistuation ,she needed to talk to my mom and her only.I explained you jusy spoke to her for the pst two minuts and she was not going to stritin out any thing. The crazy lady repeats her self again.Then i simply said you are not thank you and hanged up.

Yeah.  I am getting the calls now too. they don't leave a message and I called them. It is an automated message called citicard and it immediately asks for my account number. Hah, as if! It someone needs something from me they always leave a message.  Sounds like they are just phishing for peoples citi account numbers.  Be careful not to enter any account numbers.  If you are concerned you may have forgotten a payment just check your accounts.  But typing in the information to a number not identified is putting all your information at risk. Its more likely a scam.

Keep getting calls from this number....Whoever is calling leaves no message and me phone marks the call coming from China.
My wife thought I was getting a call from some girl named China.....

Yes I am getting this phone too saying that something is wrong with my card  but when they find out everything is fine but I think they want to rip people's  with money please stop calling me

Woman called and asked for an employee.
Me:  "He is not here.  Do you want voicemail?"
Caller:  "I am not allowed to leave voicemail."
Me:  "I can take a message."
Caller:  "Tell him to call 866-458-7619 immediately - it's very important."
Me:  "And what is this regarding?"
Caller:  "I am not allowed to disclose to that to anyone but the person."
Me:  "I will tell him when he arrives at work but unless he knows you or what it is regarding he will probably not call you."
Caller:  "But it's VERY important that he call/"
Me:  "I will give him the message but he probably will not call."
Caller hung up.  It's fraud for sure.

This number is Citi collections specific for Home Depot. The algorithm for calls is unique but you can receive calls after being just 6 days late, and generally will call 4 times a day until you submit a promise to pay. To stop the calls you need to answer the phone and give them a payment date! If you cannot pay, and want the calls to stop, ask them to put your number on the do not call list. That will stop calls permanently to your phone until you tell them to take the hold off.
BTW This is not a scam and completely legal according to FDCPA guidelines.
