I got a call and didn't answer. No message was left. When I called back the numer was disconnected. I wish I could change my caller ID. Read an article that said this was LEGAL.

I just called this number back from a landline and they indicated that they are a contractor with Verizon, requested my cell number to discuss my bill and any upgrades that might be due me. I told them I would not discuss with anyone other than Verizon directly.  I called my Verizon contact and they knew nothing of this "contractor" soliciting calls.

Just got a call from that number today. I didn't answer. No voice mail. I have Verizon too.

Got one from that number 10 minutes ago. Didn't answer, no voice mail, verizon customer.

I got a call from this number 3 minutes ago, I googled it before I would answer it and this site came up... just like everyone else, they didn't leave a voicemail and I was an Alltel customer, but now Verizon due to the switchover.

I have Verizon, used to be on Alltel.  Just upgraded my phone and got off an Alltel plan, now on a Verizon plan.  I got a call from the # just now, didn't answer, no message left.

I have been a Verizon customer for 20 years, so it isn't about switching from AllTel.  I have been called from 866-471-5508 twice today while at work.  Once around 10 a.m. and again several minutes ago.  No one leaves a message.  I'm not planning on answering it.  If Verizon wants to tell me something, they will email me or text me.  I'm glad I looked up the number and found that other people have the same problem!

Same thing here.  Number on caller id and no message left.  I have been a Verizon customer for as long as I have had a cell phone.  I'm very happy to have found your posts. Thanks I won't be answering their calls!

Same, no message and am a Verizon customer...sadly...since alltel was a lot better (pricing-wise anyway).

I got a call from this number. They told me it was a courtesy call from Verizon Wireless. It was to let me know that I am eligible for an upgrade. They also could tell me which lines were available for an upgrade.

just had a call from this number .... answered, but no one responded ... then line went dead.

I too have Verizon, And got a call from this number. - As for contractors, the people at the Mall and some of the other stores, are considered Contractors, FWIW, I have one that keep calling me from Columbus, OH wanting me to upgrade my phone, etc, so that I'll do so at one of her stores. -  As soon as I find out who it's from, I hang up.

Odd. I had a missed call today and no message left from the same number. I chose not to return the call. I am a Verizon customer too. I sure wish Verizon would step up and provide an answer as to why we are receiving these calls. Even if they were to just say, "It isn't us calling!" At least we would know.
