I want to thank everyone who adds to this thread. I get this number on my display from time to time. I just do not answer.

I keep getting a call from this number, but I do not answer.

Got a call, rings 3 times and as I pick up the phone, hang up.
We recalled and it was a registered message.

I am an employee in the 411.ca client services department.

I felt compelled to respond to this forum as there has been a great deal of confusion in regards to 411.ca and 866-482-7474. PLEASE NOTE:  411.ca is NOT 866-482-7474.

The phone number in question, 866-482-7474, belongs to a Montreal based company called 411 Directory Assistance. 411.ca has no affiliation with this company and the company in question appears to be going to great lengths to impersonate 411.ca and an affiliation to the Yellow Pages - right down to giving the domain www.411da.ca (which phonetically sounds identical to our business name). It also appears as though they are using our 411.ca database to collect leads.

In contrast, 411.ca (411 Local Search Corp) is a legitimate business in good standing with the BBB. We are affiliated with the Yellow Pages as they own a buyer’s interest in our shares. We do operate as a distinct entity and we do sell advertising space in our directory. However, paid premium listings are completely voluntary and any business can sign up for a free business listing under no further obligation. Free listings remain free for as long as the business desires.  

Paid advertisers receive premium search placement under set categories and cities. Like most paid subscription based services, we work with a strict terms and conditions. Those terms are covered and explained during a strictly scripted and recorded telephone verification process, are emailed to paid customers and available online at http://www.411.ca/pages/terms.

411.ca has received a number complaints about 411 Directory Assistance and we are seriously looking into the matter. If someone contacts you claiming to be 411.ca and you have your suspicions please call us to verify the sales agent is ours.

Same as everyone else - called the business, asked for owner by name, when told they were not available - was rude and hung up immediately. Will NOT be doing any kind of business with these twits.

Call from this number received Nov 8  and before.  When picked up - no one there.

Caller identified herself as calling from 411.ca, said she wanted to check our online listing at 411.ca, I said we didn';t have an online listing. I checked 411.ca for our legal business name and the short form usually used. Both times the response was "Hmmm, we don't have any listing for this firm within 100 Km of "Our Town, Sask.".

Did a reverse phone number search of our business number that "their" staff member had just called at 411.ca, results: "We did not find a phone number matching 306-123-4567".

Methinks this is a scam outfit plishing the 411.ca phone number.

This number tries to call me in the afternoon every week--I always miss it. They never leave a message.

I have received calls from this company several times a week for over a year to my home telephone number. The company is '411 Directory Assistance' and they claim they are associated with the Yellow Pages Group. A call to Y.P.G. confirmed this is a scam. Their address is 1400 Metcalfe Street, Montreal, QC, H3A 1X2 in Canada They call from: (866) 482-7474. I have asked them to cease and desist from all further calls, however they just keep calling. I have called their number on three occasions only to be directed to leave a voice message. I have requested that a manager call me so that I can be removed permanently from their call list. No response was ever received. I am on the National Do Not Call list and have reported this matter to the C.R.T.C. Beware of '411 Directory Assistance'. This is a Scam!

Calls once or twice a week. Never leaves a message.

Just got a call asking for the owner, to verify and "update" 411 listing. I said noone was available and they say they'll call back later. How can they still be operating after so many complaints?

Very Rude on the phone.  Only wanted to speak to the person who would approve paying bills or advertizing budget.  When I explained I will not approve any expenses or upgrade in ads they hung up!

Used to get this call when I was an employee of a small business. They'd call, confirm a bunch of information, and the first time, when things got a little too personal (how many employees etc) I asked what they needed that information for and they wouldn't tell me.

While still working for that same company I got the call several more times and they would ask for the person in charge of advertising. If I said he wasn't there they hung up without leaving a message (yellow pages left a message, as did other companies we advertised with) and if I said I -was- the person who took care of advertising they would pull the whole confirmation of information thing again and then get defensive when I wanted to know why a company we had no intention of setting up an account with was collecting all this information.

Now, I own a small business and their familiar number popped up on my caller ID, I ignored it. Won't be playing their games any more.

Another call-and-hang-up.  Though from the looks of it they've called here many times before, bothering us trying to sell us space in their directory or somesuch.

I called it back and after a brief phone maze there was actually a human on the other end of 'technical assistance', much to my surprise.  Told them to stop calling and he SEEMED TO mark it down.  We'll see whether it makes one bit of difference.

Just received a call to my company from this number. Stating they're calling from 411.ca. How are these types of telemarketers not stopped especially with building evidence of fraud and such. I just quickly answered all my information is the same good bye.

Received a call  - when I answered with a business name and how may I help you they proceeded to hang up. When I called the number back it was 411.ca with a number of different choices, sales etc. Not impressed to know its the information line.
