- Annoyed by callsI received calls from this number frequently. Never has a person talked with me. They either leave a message about delinquent payment or just play music as the person above described.
- Another annoyed callerTo the [***] SH.
I too get these calls on my cell phone from these con artists. Funny thing is I never gave this number to BofA so how the hell would they know to call me, unless they are phishing. Go figure!
It has to be a scam, not sure who to call but I would say local police and FBI would be a good start.- Caller: They Say Bank of America
- Crooks will die soon hahaYa, exactly. And another tidbit fact. No bank in existence will call you to announce that this is a non-marketing, non-telemarketing "emergency" call to tell you that your acct is overdrawn. You'll see that crap on your bank statement instead. You won't even get a mail from your bank regarding some overdrawn/overdraft notice. You'll just see it in your next bank statement. Or noted on your online banking. OK? OK SH [***] boy? OK [***]? OK crooked reject of the earth? haha. AGAIN, FAKE NUMBERS:

- KristenI just received a phone call from 866.512.7171 on my cell phone. A message was left, but I erased it without listening to it. However, I went to yahoo and searched for the phone number which brought me to this website. I called the number back and without ringing said "For Spanish press 1. English press 2." I hit 2 and then the Bank of America tune played and a girl came on the line. She asked for my account information and I told her it was funny they called me today because earlier this afternoon I CLOSED my account with Bank of America. The girl paused for a moment and then said this was a follow-up call because I owed them money. I told her I knew that the number I had called was a scam trying to steal account information from people. She immediately hung up. I then called the actual Bank of America customer service line and reported what happened. Unfortunately, they didn't seem too concerned considering I no longer have an account with them. Hopefully whoever is pulling this scam gets caught.

- BillI recieved the "call" today and picked up to the hold music. I was annoyed because I am a police officer who works night shift and was fast asleep when they called. After about 3 or 4 min a man picked up and wanted to verify my wifes information. I was very annoyed because of being called while sleeping then picking up and being placed on hold. The man told me I needed to verify a few previous address's and my wifes information. Finally I told him to call my wife and never call the house again unless there's a living breathing human on the line. As I was hanging up on him I heard him say he'd put me on the do not call list. A subsequent call to BOA by my wife revealed they never cold call and they do not use an auto dialer that places you into a que when you pick up. I was also told to pay very close attention to my account activity in the near future.
- AmandaI received call from this number today. I never answer 800 numbers; I pressed ignore instead. They didn't leave a message. I googled the number and found this site and I'm glad that I did. I don't know how they're getting my number, but thanks to this site, I know that I should press "ignore" every time they call.
Also, to some of the very "friendly" people who commented above me:
Your bank WILL NOT call you to let you know you are overdrawn on an account. You will either received a notice from them IN THE MAIL or on your next statement. People who owe money "want the bad people to go to jail" not because they owe money, but because they harass with you will telephone calls all day long! For 4 months straight last year, I received on average 20-30 calls A DAY from creditors looking for someone I don't even know! I would have gotten rid of my number, but it was more of a hassle to update all my contacts with a new number than to just press the ignore button. There should be a limit to the amount of calling they're allowed to do. Maybe you people should go find another website to troll.- Caller: Bank of America (apparently)
- liuI recieve call from this number, but only music, I want know who do it
- SherryDo not respond to this number.. it is a scam to get your personal info.... I received this call today saying they were a Bank of America representative asking to update my personal banking info. When I contacted Bank of America they said Bank of America would never solicit or change any info over the phone...
- Caller: said bank of america
- BOA AssociateOk [***], that's Overdraft services phone number for bank of america. It's a new dept, they call you if you have an account that's overdrawn under 299 dollars. How do I know? I WORK FOR THE [removed:lang] department and nothing is more irritating than some paranoid internet surfing [***] saying we want your identity. If you don't believe me and you got a call from this number, just call BOA and ask if you have any checking or savings accounts that are negative. They'll tell you.
First of all, we NEVER EVER ask for your account number right when we call. We ask for the phone number we called at because we have a telephone data base that is attached to your phone nbr. That's how we REFERENCE your account. I guarantee it's a very real department at bank of america. If you aren't comfortable, tell the associate that you would rather call the number on the back of your atm card and you can get transferred to that dept that way.
Let me field a few questions:
1. Why doesn't every dept at boa know about the od department?
a. Try sending a memo to over 50,000 employees and expect all of them to read it. Seriously, nobody got the memo and we're a 'pilot' program that the bank is testing to see if it helps retain customers
2. If I'm overdrawn, why are you calling?
a. you owe us money. If you were overdrawn long enough, we might waive all your fees. This could be the most important call of your life and you're blowing it.
THERE! EAT IT! GOD I hate this department.- Caller: BANK OF AMERICA OVERDRAFT SERVICES
- BOA Associate againSorry, one more thing. IF we're calling you at this number and you don't have a boa account, then we probably have the wrong number. Just tell the associate your phonenumber and they have NO PROBLEM deleting it. Our calls are timed, so we don't like to bs on the phone with you. We delete the number, and it takes about 5 days to get it out of the system.
There.- Caller: BOA
- BOA AssociateSeriously, paranoid guy, I'm trying to get your identity. I guarantee your acct is either od, or we're calling for someone else and called you by mistake. Call customer service, ask them what the phone number for "overdraFT services is and say you want to be connected to it. They can look it up in their phone repository. We're the "Low overdraft" team. I am not making this stuff up, and paranoia causes high blood pressure (so does dealing with paranoid people, hence my posting on here) So just do it, and I swear on all that is holy it's a boa department.
Feel free to die in that fire for me, nerd.- Caller: BOA
