I've been receiving several calls a day from this number, culminating with 10 calls from 12:20 to 1:00pm June 12. When I do answer, no one picks up.

I believe that it is the Citibank Credit Card early fraud detection department verifying recent activity.  It is their way of intercepting potentially fraudulent use.  I recently made a huge charge and within minutes, got this phone call from this number.  I wasn't able answer it though and the caller left no message.  About 10 minutes later I got another call from a different number and it was the Citibank anti-fraud unit.  So I research the first number (i.e., the 866-517-5348 number) and all indications point to Citibank.  Assuming I am correct, let them give you the info and have you verify it (i.e., don't give out info just in case a scammer in on the telephone - eg. a thief who actually works in the place where you made the charge and tries to get more info on you).
    • Caller: Probably Citibank

This number is REAL.  It is the Citibank Fraud Department.  I called the main Citibank number at 800-950-5114 and they confirmed it.

A good tip the rep at the main number gave me is that you can always call the main number if you are suspicious.  If it's for real, they can connect you to the Fraud Department or you can call it back yourself.

I got a call on Sunday afternoon and hung up on it.  But after reading the above comments I gave the number a call.  It is indeed the Citibank anti-fraud unit and they had intercepted a bogus charge on my card. They cancelled by card and are going to issue another.  Glad I called.

At first I thought this was a fraud and didn't respond to it because it was asking me for a lot of personal ID quetions thru auto response.
Then I called serval # on the back of my cards, and found out that urgent alert message was true. Someone was trying to get cash advance from my card.
I am glad that I called. Citi bank is doing a pretty good job.

After returning from a trip I had message from this number indicating possible unauthorized use of card.  Called the number spoke to Customer Rep who had the proper records of 3 purchases made that day and 2 CARD ISSUER DENIED THE CHARGE notations which were all correct - She cleared the block on the card use.

I received a call from this number and said it was an urgent call. When I call back, first no answer. then a lady claimed this is a citibank and asked for my credit card number. No, I don't trust her and do not give the number to her.

I called the main number 800-950-5114 and to verify the 8665175348. Yes, it is a true citibank's number. The rep verified a few recent charges to protect me from being fraud.

    Thanks for citibanks' service.

    SCAM SCAM SCAM

Automatic voice said "Citi" NOT "Citiback" and left a code. I called Citibank and they said it wasn't them. I called the number and entered the code - When they asked for zip code I tried other options and nothing worked and eventually I got disconnected. When I tried the number again the code was no longer valid.

    This is not a scam!!!

I received a call from 866-517-5348 and they left a message to call back. I did, and connected with a rep from Citibank's credit card antifraud division. I have a Citibank Visa card and they wanted me to verify some questionable charges. On May 28 a merchant in Spain, "Viajes Brital", tried to process several travel charges using my Visa card number. There were over a dozen charges, all on May 28, between $780 - $1,600. All of the transactions were fraudulent.
Citi asked me to ID the fradulent charges in my next statement, get it notarized and send it back to them. They are pursuing the bad guys.

The voice said it was calling about my Associated Bank platinum card and instructed me to call an 877 number. A couple of problems: 1) While I have an Associated Bank card, it's not platinum; 2) the 877 number is different from any of the customer service/security numbers on Associated's web site. Still, I think it's legit because Associated/Citibank has called me before about possible fraudulent charges, including a couple of doozies in Italy, which I've never even visited. Obviously, I was grateful for Associated/Citibank's intervention. However, on another occasion, Associated/Citibank asked me for my account number. Don't the credit card issuers say they never ask for account numbers? It's a point I made in an email I just wrote to Associated explaining my reluctance to return the call.

This is the number to the Citi Fraud Dept - however, don't be surprised as they ask you for your personal information when you call.  The safe bet is to just call the back of your Citi credit card and speak with the rep there - they can always get you to the fraud dept (or should already be alerted to it on your account).

Would recommend giving them a call back if you get this on your caller id.

    cheers,
