I noticed this on my Roger's cellphone bill as well. I was charged $1. The bill is for Oct-Nov 2012.

Apparently it happened on Oct 5, FXM Inc. 131313 FXM Stock Tips 18665692226 Of course, when you call that number you'll get a lovely message saying "The number you have dialled is not available from your area at this time."

I haven't talked to Rogers yet, but for sure I will get them to fix this.

Same charge showed up on one of our corporate phones charged Oct 19, 2012. Called the number listed:1-866-569-2226 automated "Not available in your area" Called Rogers, she didn't see anything more than I could see. She did some digging for me and gave me an email to contact :customerservice@fxminc.net . Checked out the website and it appears to be a text service and to cancel says to reply STOP to 131313. When signing up the agreement is as follows:
"I agree to sign up for "Daily Stock Tips Subscription" and acknowledge that I will receive 1 msg/weekday and be billed at a rate of $1 (CDN) per message ($20 per month up to a maximum of $23 on months with 5 weeks). You can unsubscribe from the service by replying STOP to 131313. If you require any assistance text HELP, ARRET or INFO to 131313."
Going to be watching very closely for this on other lines... quite worrisome.

At least Rogers credited you back. Telus won't and says to contact them directly. Called them and directs me back to website to enter number. No thanks. Can'[t believe someone can just spam and customers get charged.

I'm surprised to be finding out that others have this charge on their account too! No idea as to where this charge came from and neither did FIDO... will be keeping a close eye on my bills in the next few months.

I just checked my bill too and got charged $1.  Called the support number 18665692226 and same message as mentioned above.  Sending a text message "STOP" to 131313 didn't help either.  Something phoney is going on with this.  Imagine if this company billed a dollar from thousands of people and got paid by the phone companies......

    Scammed
I use Fido and I randomly got charged by this company. Lost $1. The amount is not a problem but the fact that these scams happen IS.

These phone companies are useless. They make it seem like it's our fault that their security system is lacking.

Lots of people are getting bombarded with this now. The SMS number 131313 is being used.

Contact CBC Marketplace about this via twitter: @CBCERICA.
The carriers need to be held accountable for these spammers, especially when they're sending blank texts just to ding people and get a kick back from your cellular carrier.

BTW Texting STOP to 131313 does not work, you have to kill your texting service for it to stop.

Rogers didn't credit me back. They're making a killing by allowing this to occur. This must be some sort of deal this spammer has made with the carriers.

I just found the same hidden $1 charge on my bill today. When I called FIDO they said I signed up for some text stock tip service, which I most definitely did not. They offered to block the account, but wouldn't refund my $1. They suggested I call the company myself and ask what's going on, and ask them to be taken off their list. When I called, I got the same message as everyone else about not being available in this area. I found the text in my phone from 1 (313) 13, and when I tried replying with STOP or UNSUBSCRIBE, it bounced and didn't let me send it. In the end, I emailed them through the email suggested above: customerservice@fxminc.net so I hope that fixes the problem. I can't believe how much money these guys are scamming from people all over the place. What bugs me more is that since it's only $1, many people won't bother fighting about it, and they end up with a hell of a lot of money.

Has anyone found a solution yet??

    hmm
The only solution as already mentioned is contact the CBC about this. The carriers have no incentive to help you. They get money from you regardless.

I just got this on my Fido statememt. Called the FXM stock first, line was busy. Fido was very helpfull, I told them I checked out the # on the Web and saw that this is becoming a big problem (mentionned Rogers & Telus as seen here), they credited the charge (+ tax) and blocked the FXM. They verified their bank of providers and couldn't find this 'stock tips' thing. I will be emailing CBC, hope Marketplace will do some research on what this is. It's not the $1, it's just knowing that we may start getting spam, etc through our cell phones!!

Im sending a $200 invoice to customerservice@fxminc.net for the hassle and stress of wasting my time to have to call my provider (Rogers) threaten them with cancellation of my account after they told me they wouldn't revoke the charge (they did) I suggest everyone else here do the same. It's time to fight back and possibly create a new precident for any further crap like this. I told the Rogers rep the only way I would pay this is if I had a gun to my head.

So I called up Rogers again and got a hold of a customer rep and asked them about this situation. They informed me that it is possible to opt out of what are called premium SMS which can incure charges.
I also asked them how could I set up a premium SMS company and start extorting money randomly from their subscribers. Who would I contact to get a list of subscriber numbers so I could help them to make more money and some for myself because hey, if Rogers, Telus, Fido (who knows who else) allows this and blames the unsuspecting cell phone chump, can do it, why not me? Lets get on it. The FXM website probably took a seasoned website pro 20 mins to set up. The host for FXM is Godaddy.com. Lets get a list of all the reps and higher ups at rogers, telus etc. and start sending them "premium texts and see how they like it. FYI  http://fxminc.net/  check it out, looks pretty scammy to me. This isn't over by along shot.

Got charged the 1$ fee for a BLOCKED NUMBER call that i MISSED on my iphone... I have proof for that, anyways like everyone else here I've been charged 1$ on my Rogers bill, i don't mind paying it now, I car to make it stop s it won't happen again... but i called Rogers and UNFORTUNATELY they can't control third-party applications or calls.. Or credit us back either, so it means if these [***] want to have 1 million on their pockets they only have to pick up the phone a million times randomly through all canada.
