These people called my friends and relatives telling them that I have serious charges pending against me and that my lawyer should call them back.

I called their number back myself and found out that they are hard nosed collectors for payday loans. In particular, they were collecting for the Holiday Group.

They sound very official, but are just a collections agency.  Ask them for verification of the loan and verification of their connection to the loan and they will get very angry, refuse, and tell you again that you are going to court if you do not make a payment arraignment NOW. Then just hang up.

Like any debt, they can take you to court for a judgment. But depending on your situation, that gives you some time to make important decisions (like bankruptcy).

I rec'd a call from them saying that they were calling for another person (who I have known in the past, but have no monetary or financial or personal connections with and am really not in contact with currently).  I tried to talk to them to tell them that my number is not his number and that I have no idea what this is about and to please remove my number from their system.  The very belligerent and RUDE man asked how I knew him.  I said we used to work for the same company, but I have no ties to him financially or monetarily.  He said, "Oh, was he your boyfriend?"...SERIOUSLY??  I said No.  He said, "Oh, you stuttered a little, he must have been."  This sent me over the edge!  I don't who these people are or why they are calling me.  I don't have a payday loan w/ them nor have I ever had a payday loan period!!!  How do I get them to stop harassing me???

They are not allowed to threaten you or anyone else, contact your Attorney General's office and file a complaint against them. They HAVE to send you documentation about their call and what you supposedly owe. They can be fined thousands of dollars for their illegal tactics. It has been done in the past with other agencies that do this. Only the original owner of the debt can take you to court and have a subpoena against you. Not a fly by night "agency" such as this one. If they are rude, hang up on them only after you get their name, address and the name of the person who called you. Then file with the AG.
It is against the FTC and FCC laws to call and harass and threaten someone.
